The World of Beasts: She's Got Their Hearts novel Chapter 24

"What's the meaning of this? Are you suspecting Ana of being the Vexoths' spy?" asked Finlay with a frown, tightening the grip around the bag.

Scott's expression grew stern, and he led Finlay to the couch to continue the conversation.

"I'm sure you felt it, too. Ana's not like what we thought. She isn't suffering from amnesia or intellectual impairment.

"If it's just amnesia, people from her alliance should be looking for her. After all, she's a pure female human who has an F-grade mind essence that can comfort SS-grade therians.

"However, no alliances have contacted me so far," uttered Scott.

"But Derek's bodily fluid test results came out normal. So did mine. That proves Ana's not the Vexoths' spy!" Finlay shot to his feet, clearly upset.

"That's not why I'm suspecting Ana." Scott felt a little helpless, for he knew Finlay's temperament.

"When you returned that day, you said something hit you while you were running. And when you woke up, Ana was sleeping on top of you, right?" questioned Scott, softening his tone.

Finlay silently recalled that day. He had followed Scott's orders to eliminate a therian from The Reclaimer, but he was beaten up by the Vexoth who infiltrated Stormclaw Alliance.

On the bright side, Finlay eliminated the Vexoths as well. Unfortunately, he passed out when he was rushing back. At that moment, he did not sense any danger.

By the time he regained consciousness, he found Analise sleeping on top of him. She comforted him when his toxins flared up.

Thinking there was nothing unusual about the events, Finlay recounted the story to Scott again.

After pondering for a moment, Scott finally spoke what was on his mind, "Finlay, did it ever cross your mind that Ana was the one who knocked you out?

"Instead of sleeping on you, she fell from the sky and fainted. I suspect Ana's from another planet like the Vexoths. She could be a fated nemesis of the Vexoths that hasn't been awakened."

At first, Scott was worried Finlay would slip up, but it turned out that he was worried over nothing. Ever since Scott considered the possibility of Analise being someone from beyond interstellar space, he understood why she had always been somewhat distant toward him.

With Finlay's carefree spirit, he might not have noticed that Analise was not a female from Interstellar Alliance. However, Scott was a commander—a position that required someone to be smart.

Hence, Scott should be worried about himself instead.

"She sent me a friend request on Cosmoseek when we left the dungeon. Then, she texted me, inviting me to the party.

"I didn't reply, but she sent another text just now. I can't keep ignoring her, can I?" Analise asked, spreading out her hands helplessly.

Scott said solemnly, "You're right. Tell her you'll go. The Khielson family is a powerful clan in Stormclaw Alliance. I'll go to the party with you.

"If you don't want to stay, we can leave as soon as we give her the present. I'll get my assistant officer to pick a gift later. I'm your guardian now, so what I give will also be from you."
