Only Felicia and Luke remained in the quiet bedroom.
"She truly is a beautiful girl," Felicia whispered, unable to hide her admiration. "To be raised with such refined, delicate features requires immense wealth and care. The Manning family must have doted on her."
Luke crossed his arms, his expression serious. "It is obvious that Ivy cares deeply for her. But as for what exactly transpired within the Manning household to leave her like this, I have no idea."
He glanced at the IV bag. "Why don't you come back after she wakes up, Felicia?"
"It is fine," Felicia offered gently. "If you have business to attend to, go ahead. I will stay here and keep an eye on her."
Luke nodded gratefully. He really did have pressing matters requiring his presence at the office. "Alright. Call me immediately if anything happens."
"I will."
After Luke departed, Felicia settled onto the plush sofa near the bed, casually scrolling through her phone. She kept a vigilant eye on the IV fluids, and once the two nutrient bags were empty, she carefully removed the needle.
A soft rustling came from the bed. Felicia looked up to see the girl slowly opening her eyes. Her irises were a stunning, luminous amber, yet they stared blankly at the ceiling, entirely devoid of focus.
Willa pushed herself up, her slender arms trembling. Felicia immediately stepped forward to support her. Sensing a stranger's touch, Willa flinched violently, shrinking back like a frightened animal. "Who... who are you?"
Felicia softened her voice to a soothing murmur. "It’s okay. I am a friend of Luke's. I am here to take care of you. I promise I will not hurt you."
Hearing Felicia's calm, gentle tone, Willa gradually relaxed her defensive posture.
"Do you need to use the restroom? I can help you," Felicia asked.
When Felicia extended her hands again, Willa did not resist the assistance.
"Careful now," Felicia cautioned, guiding her slowly.
Felicia carefully escorted her into the lavish bathroom. Willa was so fragile she felt as though a strong breeze might break her. Felicia helped her sit.
Felicia stayed by her side for the entire afternoon. Willa spoke very little, but to Felicia's relief, she managed to eat a small portion of food.
It was not until Savannah called to announce her arrival that Felicia finally had to leave. She turned back to Willa before heading to the door. "I live right across the street. I will come keep you company again tomorrow when I have time."
Willa remained still, showing no visible reaction.
Just as Felicia was about to step out of the room, a soft, raspy voice stopped her. "Thank you. You and Luke are both good people."
Felicia paused, a warm smile gracing her lips. "If you really want to thank us, then get some proper rest and make sure you eat well."
Willa hummed a quiet agreement.
Felicia exited the room, left brief instructions with the housekeeper, and called Luke to give him a quick update on Willa's condition.
Luke breathed a sigh of relief over the phone. "It is a good thing you know how to talk to her, Felicia. As long as she is eating, that is a start."
