Felicia put down her phone and let out a long breath. Hearing the cheerful sounds of Anne and Olisha playing together had sparked an inexplicable sense of discomfort in her chest. Yet, she knew that in Anne's heart, Felicia would always be the woman she relied on the most.
She pushed aside her negative feelings, went into the closet, and changed into comfortable loungewear.
During dinner, Felicia could clearly sense that Heather's mood had vastly improved.
Later that evening, Jeremy arrived at the Ross family home to pick up Heather. He took a moment to speak privately with Greg.
"What's the situation now?" Jeremy asked.
"The recent scandal at Greenway Electrical Services made the news," Greg explained. "The vast majority of the company executives stand firmly on my side. Brock is obstinate, arrogant, and constantly eager for unearned praise, which makes him deeply unpopular within the company. The executives he thought he had persuaded to take his side were simply playing along with his act."
As a result, when the crisis hit and Brock attempted to take Greg down, his plan completely backfired. Given the financial losses Greenway Electrical Services suffered this time, Greg could easily send Brock to prison if he decided to press charges.
However, Greg ultimately couldn't bring himself to be that ruthless. After an internal meeting with top executives that day, they passed a resolution to strip Brock of all his titles, terminate all involved personnel, and issue an industry blacklist against them.
Despite being prepared, Greenway Electrical Services still lost tens of millions in the ordeal.
Jeremy nodded approvingly. "Brock will never be able to cause trouble for you again. Consider these losses a down payment for the company's future. It's a blessing in disguise that you were able to thoroughly remove a thorn like him. Now you can properly map out the company's future growth."
Greg murmured in agreement. After more than a decade of friendship with Brock, seeing things crumble to this point only made him sigh at the unpredictability of life.
"Do you know who helped Greenway Electrical Services this time?" Greg asked.
Brock had been fully determined to kick Greg out of the company. Greg had been on guard the entire time, but he hadn't been sure exactly how far Brock would go, mainly because he couldn't grasp the true strength of Brock's secret backer. Surprisingly, it was Darin who had been quietly helping Greg from the shadows.
Therefore, when the conflict first erupted, Brock assumed he held the upper hand. Little did he know, his perceived victory was nothing but a fleeting illusion.
Roen Capital and BlueMarble Investments were rival firms, after all. With Felicia acting as a core executive at Roen Capital, outsiders who were blind to their true dynamics would naturally harbor suspicions. It was perfectly reasonable for people to have concerns. Jeremy obviously had no intention of firing Felicia, so temporarily relocating her away from headquarters was the only solution.
"Yes," Jeremy confirmed. He then looked at Greg. "What are your thoughts on Felicia and Darin eventually acknowledging each other as siblings?"
"Deep down, Darin is definitely preparing to formally tell Felicia about him," Greg said, pausing for a moment. Darin's current actions felt a bit like a roundabout way to win her favor. "So, my opinion doesn't carry much weight. He is her biological brother, and I have no right to stand in their way."
Jeremy offered a subtle nod.
"Still, do you really think Max will just sit back and let Felicia move to Cloudville?" Greg wondered aloud.
Felicia would need at least another couple of weeks to fully hand over her responsibilities. On this particular day, representatives from BlueMarble Investments arrived at Roen Capital for a meeting. The primary agenda was reviewing the progress of a joint overseas project the two companies had invested in the previous year.
