"Furthermore, two people being together means facing difficulties as a team," Felicia continued. "That is the only way a relationship lasts. If you back away at the slightest sign of trouble, there is no point in talking about the future."
Heather looked at Felicia and offered a small, tight smile. "You are absolutely right, Felicia. It is always so much easier to be clearheaded and rational when you are looking at someone else's relationship."
Hearing this, Felicia withdrew her hand, a trace of helplessness flashing in her eyes. "Those involved are blind, while the bystanders see clearly. It is an ancient truth."
"So what exactly is the situation with you and Max right now?" Heather asked.
Felicia restarted the engine and merged the car back into the flow of traffic. Her voice dropped low. "I don't even know how to explain it."
It would be a lie to say she felt nothing when she saw Dannie. There was no way Max couldn't find out who the real instigator had been, yet Dannie was still working right by his side. All his talk about respecting her felt more like he was just trying to humiliate her.
Heather knew that Felicia was actually having a much harder time than she was. At the very least, her own divorce was already finalized.
"You haven't had dinner yet, have you? Come home with me to eat. My mom definitely cooked a feast tonight," Felicia offered.
Heather suddenly hesitated.
Just then, Felicia received a call from Greg.
"Hey, Greg," she answered.
"Felicia, Mom said you're coming home for dinner tonight?" he asked.
"Yes, why?"
"Ask Heather if she wants to come along," he suggested.
Felicia chuckled. "Sure thing."
She hung up the phone and looked over at Heather, a bright smile curving her lips. "Are you ready to go now?"
Heather smiled back and nodded. She then made a quick call to her nanny, reminding her to take good care of Yara.
Felicia drove straight back to the Ross family estate. Greg had come home early that day. When they saw each other, Heather suddenly became incredibly shy and awkward.
Greg walked over to her and asked softly, "Would you like to go for a walk?"
Hearing only silence on the line, the nanny called out, "Ms. Ross."
Felicia snapped back to reality. "Put Anne on the phone, please."
Anne was soon on the line. "Mommy, what time are you getting off work today?"
"I came back to my family's home today," Felicia explained gently. "I won't be able to stay with you tonight, sweetie."
Anne let out a disappointed sound. "Why didn't you bring me to Grandpa's house?"
"I had an emergency at the last minute and didn't have time to pick you up. I'll bring you along next time."
"Okay then. But you have to come home tomorrow. I need to see you every single day."
"I promise."
After chatting with Anne for a few more minutes, Felicia finally hung up the phone.
