“So Max is after a piece of IronGate Industries too, huh?”
The Curtis family had always dreamed that Andrea would marry Max, thinking an alliance with him would guarantee their future. They had no idea Max was already working behind their backs with Darin, plotting to split up IronGate Industries for themselves. If Mrs. Curtis and Mr. Curtis ever found out, they’d probably lose their minds.
“So the Curtis family still doesn’t have a clue?” Felicia asked.
Jeremy nodded. “Hank’s always suspected Max, but he never found any solid proof. Not that it would matter. Right now, the Curtis family can’t even deal with Darin, much less Max.”
“So if Max hadn’t helped, Darin wouldn’t have bounced back this fast?” Felicia pressed.
Jeremy leaned back, thinking. “Darin grew up completely under the Curtis family’s thumb. No power, no influence, nothing. He met Max when he was studying in the States. They probably struck up a secret partnership back then. If they’re having issues now, it’s definitely not over some minor business squabble. Honestly, there’s almost no way they’d fall out over money or interests.”
Even if they did have a disagreement, neither of them would let it blow up to the point where it hurt their own positions, when the Curtis family was watching Darin’s every move, just waiting for him to slip up so they could pounce.
Could this really be about Andrea?
But that didn’t seem like enough to land Darin in the hospital.
Felicia just got more and more curious.
After work that day, the senior team from Roen Capital all went out for dinner together.
When they were leaving the restaurant, they unexpectedly ran into Trey. Felicia didn’t recognize the guy with him, but Jeremy explained he was from the Brown family.
The Holden family and the Brown family were cousins, more or less. The Brown family wasn’t at the very top of the social ladder in the Capital, but they definitely had a solid spot among the city’s elite.
Jeremy had stopped a deal with the Brown family before. They weren’t happy about it, but they also didn’t want to go up against Jeremy.
Now, Jeremy had eyes on everyone connected to Trey and had people quietly keeping tabs on Trey’s every move. Trying to make business deals in the Capital was nearly impossible for Trey now.
