“But Heather’s ex-husband is still in the Capital, right?”
Heather had been the one to tell Greg about Trey. She didn’t want him to get the wrong idea or think she was still hung up on her ex. Things had been easy enough before Trey showed up, but now Heather couldn’t help but worry. Would Greg be bothered by the fact that she was divorced and raising a kid on her own? The nerves had her texting Felicia nonstop. It was Felicia who finally suggested she just be up front and tell Greg about Trey coming to the Capital.
Greg was always busy with work. Most of the time, Heather had to be the one to reach out, but he always replied as soon as he saw her messages. The night before she was supposed to fly back to Northwick with Yara, they had dinner together. Greg’s attitude was completely chill, not a hint of judgment or awkwardness, and that was the first time Heather felt like she could finally relax.
“I’m not really sure,” she said.
Greg nodded and didn’t press her for more.
Felicia hugged a pillow, looking a little worried. “Still, the way Trey’s acting, it doesn’t seem like he’s over Heather.”
Trey and Holden were both a little unhinged. Felicia honestly worried about what Trey might do if he ever found out Heather liked someone else.
“Even if he isn’t over her, they’re divorced. He can’t force Heather back into anything. Plus, Heather has Jeremy there. I don’t think Trey would dare pull any crazy moves.”
“Yeah, you’re right.”
It was around eight when Max showed up at the villa. Felicia let him know she had plans that night. Max didn’t ask questions, just told her, “Don’t stay out too late.” Then he left with Anne.
As their car pulled out of the neighborhood, Luke’s car pulled in.
Felicia didn’t get home to Oakridge Estate until after midnight. The living room lights were still on. Max was on the sofa, watching TV. When he saw her, he stood up and walked over.
“You’re back. Are you hungry? Want something to eat?”
“I’m not hungry,” Felicia said.
He nodded. “It’s late. Go get ready for bed.”
