The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 513

“I don’t think your wife’s going to back down that easily. You should get ready for a fight.” Darin’s voice was low and almost amused.

Max just shrugged. “No one really knows what’s going to happen next.”

The conversation they’d meant to have at lunch was only just happening now.

That afternoon, Felicia came back to Oakridge Estate. Max was nowhere to be seen.

She dropped her bag by the door and asked the nanny, “Is Anne asleep?”

The nanny shook her head. “Not yet. Mrs. Hawthorne is with her in the bedroom.”

Felicia paused, caught off guard. So Tatiana had come by.

She headed upstairs, stopping just outside Anne’s room. Bursts of laughter floated through the door. Anne sounded happier than she had all week, her grandmother’s presence lighting her up.

Felicia stayed there a moment, then quietly made her way back down, sinking onto the living room sofa. She flicked on the TV, but her mind wandered. About half an hour slipped by before she heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Felicia didn’t bother to look up.

The second Tatiana saw her, the mood in the room shifted. Tatiana strode over, sat across from Felicia, crossed her legs and folded her arms. With one arched brow, she looked every bit the queen of the house.

Felicia met her gaze, face unreadable, and said nothing.

Tatiana broke the silence. “Five years away and you’ve picked up some new tricks. Had all that work done, changed your face just so you could move back in here, right?”

Felicia let out a short laugh. “That’s right. All of this just for today. And what about you, Mrs. Hawthorne? Looks like you haven’t changed at all.”

Tatiana’s eyes narrowed. “You’ve gotten a lot sharper.”

Felicia smiled coldly. “You’re too kind.”

“You really think you’re something, don’t you? But Felicia, you’ve got a long road ahead. Don’t get too full of yourself.”
