Felicia had to fight the urge to roll her eyes. "You look perfectly fine to me right now."

"What if I am not fine tomorrow?" Max countered.

"And my asking is magically going to cure you?" she asked.

Max chuckled. "Maybe."

"I didn't realize I possessed such healing powers," Felicia said dryly.

"It is never too late to find out," Max replied.

Beside them, Anne covered her mouth, giggling quietly.

Max released Felicia and crouched down to meet the little girl's gaze. "What are you laughing at?"

"Daddy, you are being so childish," Anne declared.

Max reached out and ruffled her hair. "Not as childish as you."

Tucking her little hands into her pockets, Anne lifted her chin and huffed. "I am a kid. I am supposed to be childish. You are an adult."
