Brandon nodded in understanding. "Since it has come to this, let him be."
"Grandpa," Anne's cheerful voice rang out.
Max and Felicia brought Anne back inside from their walk. Brandon stepped forward, bending down to scoop his granddaughter into his arms.
Anne planted a loud, sloppy kiss on his cheek and wrapped her small arms tightly around his neck. "I have not seen you in so long, Grandpa. I missed you so much."
Brandon gently tapped her little nose, his voice brimming with affection. "I missed you too, Anne. When you have your holiday break, how about you come stay at Grandpa's house?"
Anne suddenly hesitated, her brow furrowing in serious thought. "Grandpa, Mom has a little brother in her tummy. I need to take care of Mom."
Brandon burst into warm, booming laughter. "You are such a good girl."
Max stepped forward and affectionately patted Anne's head. "Then today, you should spend lots of time with Great grandmother, Grandpa, and Grandma."
Anne looked up at her dad, blinking her big, innocent eyes. "Are you going on a date with Mom?"
Max smiled down at her. "Yes, we are."
"Okay," Anne readily agreed, thrilled by the idea.
The atmosphere in the room was exceptionally warm and peaceful. Watching her family interact so beautifully, Miranda could not stop smiling.
The butler soon approached, bowing slightly. "Madam, lunch is ready."
"Alright, let us eat first," Miranda decided.
