After hanging up the phone, the nanny gathered her things and quietly left the room. Felicia leaned back against the sofa in silence. Time seemed to blur until Ava came upstairs to call her down for lunch.

As she descended the stairs, she overheard Colton on the phone with Darin. "Alright, come on home. We will have a nice family dinner together."

Colton ended the call and turned to look at her. "Felicia, Darin is coming back tomorrow. He will be home for dinner, so invite Savannah over to join us."

Felicia nodded in agreement. "Will do."

"By the way, how are things between Darin and Savannah lately?" Colton had just tried asking Darin the same thing, but he had dodged the question.

"They seem to be doing okay," Felicia replied gently.

Colton chuckled with satisfaction. "That is good to hear. Come on, let's eat."

Once they reached the dining room, Felicia asked the nanny to pack a portion of the food in a thermal container. Ava noticed and raised an eyebrow. "Who is that for?"

Felicia did not try to hide her intentions. "It is for Max. Anne is about to start first grade, and I want to talk to him about it."

Colton's expression darkened instantly. He opened his mouth to object, but Ava subtly kicked his leg beneath the table to stop him. "That is a good idea," Ava said smoothly. "A child's education is important. You two definitely need to have a proper discussion."

Ava knew that Felicia could never completely cut ties with Max. The only way to do so would be to abandon Anne entirely, and that was simply impossible.
