"Mm, and Anne too," Darin replied.
Anne looked up at him. "Uncle Darin, is that Daddy on the phone?"
"Yeah," Darin hummed, handing the phone to her. "Say hi to your daddy."
Anne chatted with her father for a few minutes before handing the phone back to Darin. Judging by the man's tone just now, he wasn't just slightly annoyed. Max had sent a gift that very morning, and Felicia had signed for it. Yet, here he was, taking his temper out on Darin. Clearly, Felicia had received the gift but hadn't given him any sort of response.
"Why are you so angry?" Darin asked.
Listening to Darin's words, Felicia realized Max was definitely furious. She really had been busy and hadn't taken the initiative to contact him.
"What do you mean?" Max retorted.
"If you don't have anything else to say, I'm hanging up," Darin said.
Max didn't answer, and Darin actually hung up the phone.
Anne stared at Darin. "Uncle Darin, what's going on with Daddy?"
Darin smiled softly. "Your daddy is throwing a tantrum."
Anne blinked her big eyes. "Why is Daddy throwing a tantrum at you?"
"Probably because he's angry and has nowhere to vent it. Since he doesn't dare take it out on anyone else, he can only take it out on me."
"Oh," Anne said thoughtfully. "Then Daddy is wrong to do that."
"Yeah, if only he were half as good as you are, Anne."
