"Audrey, if Megan had just waited a little longer before bringing up the divorce or if she had just waited until I got home and had dinner with me, I would have laid out everything I experienced over the years.

"I would have pushed her up to the top and made her the happiest woman in the world. Whatever she wanted, I would have given it to her. But she couldn't even spare me that time!"

Nolan shook his head with a bitter smile. It was hard to tell if he was feeling sorry for himself or for Megan.

Audrey watched Nolan, noticing that he was in a bad mood. It was clear that he wouldn't be happy even if he got back at Megan. After all, the feelings he had invested in their relationship were genuine.

"Nolan, don't be sad. It's Megan's loss for missing out on you. She will regret it, and she's going to be miserable about it."

Nolan nodded with a smile. "It doesn't matter. Whatever Megan is planning doesn't matter, either. Let's go, Audrey. I'll take you home."

As they walked, Audrey tried to lighten Nolan's mood by talking about cheerful things, and soon, they arrived at her house.

There, a young lady around 18 to 19 years old with a slender figure was waiting at the door. When she saw Audrey, she quickly ran over.

"Audrey, you're back! I was so worried. I thought something had happened to you again."

Audrey smiled at the lady in front of her. "Kara, what are you saying? Come here. Let me introduce you. This is Nolan.

"Nolan, this is my cousin, Kara."

Nolan nodded with a smile. "Hello, Kara."

Kara Weiss looked at Nolan with a frown. "So, you're Nolan? You're the one who caused Audrey to get beat up?" There was a clear hint of resentment in her tone.

Audrey quickly interjected, "Kara, it was all a misunderstanding. Don't overthink it."

With that, Kara pulled Audrey away without waiting for the latter to explain.

"Audrey, why are you still associating with someone like him? Come on. Let's go home. You're not allowed to see him again." Kara then shot Nolan a cold glare before dragging Audrey into the house.

Audrey didn't get the chance to say anything, and Nolan could only shake his head helplessly, choosing not to explain further.

After all, no matter how well Audrey seemed now, the fact remained that she had been brutally beaten.

Nolan could imagine how desperate and helpless Audrey must have felt when she was being kicked and punched by Nicholas while being pinned to the ground.

The thought made his eyes flash with anger, and he couldn't help but feel he had gone too easy on Nicholas.
