The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 234

Those men heard what Nolan said clearly.

The leader of the group, Michael Holtz, approached him with a frown and asked calmly, "Where are you going?"

Nolan looked at him with a faint smile. "Instead of answering your question, I'm more interested in finding out what has happened with the Baxters. Where's Lincoln? You're all Lincoln's men, right? Did something happen to him as well?"

When Michael heard that, he frowned. "Everything's fine with the Baxters, and Lincoln's doing well. Nothing can possibly happen to him, so why are you asking, Nolan?

"Are you going to do something to them? Also, you haven't answered my question yet. Where are you going?"

Nolan looked at Michael and chuckled coldly. "Are the Baxters really fine? Since Lincoln's safe, it seems like the internal conflict is settled. Either that or Mr. Baxter has been dealt with before he had a chance to fight back."

He shook his head and sighed. "Mr. Baxter's a living legend, and it's really sad to see him end up like this. However, he should be the saddest among everyone, right? After all, he was betrayed by the people he trusted the most. No one could've liked that.

"Be honest with me. Are your orders changed? Tell me what your latest order is now."

Michael frowned when he heard that. It was true that they had received new orders. However, they had never talked to Nolan in person before, so he didn't understand why the latter knew that.

What Nolan said gave Michael chills as well. Michael wasn't quite sure what was going on with the Baxters, but he still knew something big had happened.

On the other hand, Nolan managed to guess it without even leaving his house. Clearly, he wasn't just an average Joe. However, there was nothing to hide.

As Nolan had said, they had different orders at that moment. Instead of protecting him, they had to monitor him. In fact, they could also physically hold him down if the need arose. That meant that the Baxters weren't on great terms with Nolan anymore.

They were there to monitor Nolan and even keep him under control. However, he was confidently ordering them around, and it made them feel upset.

Nolan looked at Michael and chuckled. "Instead of following me in the shadows and risking losing me, you can just be straightforward. Won't that be better?"

Micheal nodded and gave Nolan a thumbs-up with a smile. "Mr. Greene, you're the bravest and most straightforward man I've ever seen. I like it!"

Nolan shrugged and said, "Now, bring the car around."

Michael turned to his men behind him and said, "Go and bring us the car. Let's bring Mr. Greene to the place he wishes to go."

Then, he turned back to Nolan. "Mr. Greene, please don't play any tricks. After all, we're in Bellington. Even if you escape us, you still won't be able to get out. In fact, you'll have to suffer a lot of pain as well. So, why bother putting yourself through that, right?"
