The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 258

Chapter 258: You’re My Priority, My Wife

Primrose tilted her head slightly and asked softly, "What if I need a little more time?"

"No." Edmund’s tone left no room for argument. "Thirty minutes. That’s all. He has to leave when the time’s up."

Well, technically, Edmund wouldn’t be there to enforce it himself, so maybe she could ask the soldiers to give her a bit more time?

"The soldiers won’t give you extra time either." His words shattered that thought instantly. "This time, they’re only following my orders."

Primrose sighed, her shoulders sinking. "Alright. Thirty minutes, then."

It wasn’t much, but it might be enough. If she did it right, maybe she could get the secret words in time.

"I’m sorry," Edmund whispered. He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it gently, over and over again. "I’m not trying to control you. I just ... I won’t be able to leave in peace if I don’t know you’re safe."

[She’s not mad at me, is she? What should I do if she is?]

[Maybe I should bring her a gift when I get back later.]

[Honestly ... I don’t understand why she wants to keep that bastard doctor here? Why would my wife want to help a stranger like that young woman?]

[Why does she have to be so kind?]

That word again.

Primrose was not sure that Edmund would still think she was kind if he knew that she just wanted to take revenge.

"I understand," Primrose said softly. "I’m not angry with you, husband."

Truly, she wasn’t.

The rules he made were frustrating, sure, but she knew he wasn’t doing it to hurt her. He was just trying to protect the person he loved.

"Just promise me you won’t be gone too long," she whispered as she wrapped her arms around him. "Because I’ll miss you, and I’ll feel lonely if you take too long to come back."

Edmund had come home really late last night, so late that Primrose was already fast asleep.

Since she needed all the rest she could get, he decided not to wake her and ended up sleeping in his own room. He only came to see her again when he had to leave the palace in the morning.

Truthfully, he was absolutely pissed off about the situation because what he really wanted was to stay by his wife’s side until she fully recovered, but those damn rogues forced him to go.

"I’ll come home as soon as I can," he whispered, gently stroking her hair and kissing her temple. "If anything bad happens here, just send a soldier to call for me. I’ll come running back immediately, I promise."

Primrose let out a soft laugh. "What if I call you back while you’re in the middle of a fight?"

Edmund didn’t hesitate for a second. "Then I’ll finish the battle and come back right after. But you’re my priority. So, if something bad happens to you, I’ll drop everything and come home no matter what I’m doing."

Primrose tightened her hug, burying her face in the crook of his neck.

Her husband had just said that she was his top priority.

If only ... if only in her past life she’d told him the truth, that she was dying, maybe he would’ve come back to her. Maybe she wouldn’t have died alone.

Right.

She really should’ve told him back then.
