"Don't worry. I know my limits now that I'm pregnant," Ivy said softly to Wanda. "And I can't hide this from Nathan forever. I'll find the right time to tell him."
Wanda looked pleased. "That's the right way to do it! The sooner you tell Mr. Lowe, the better. That way, he can take care of you and the baby. That's a husband's duty, and a father's responsibility."
Ivy didn't dare expect Nathan to take responsibility so calmly. What worried her was how he would react once he found out she was pregnant.
-
Ivy arrived at the studio and threw herself fully into her work. Before she knew it, the workday was over.
Madge walked over. "This batch of designs is done. Time to call it a day."
Ivy glanced at the clock. Nathan had said he would pick her up. She wondered when he would arrive.
She took out her phone, found Nathan's number, and dialed. After two rings, the call connected.
Nathan's low, smooth voice came through. "Hello."
Ivy said, "I'm getting out of work now. When are you coming to pick me up?"
Before Nathan could reply, she added, "If you're really busy, you don't have to come. I can drive myself home."
"Wait for me. I'll be there soon," Nathan replied.
Ivy smiled. "Okay."
After hanging up, Ivy was about to get back to work when her phone rang again.
She glanced at the caller ID. It was Kate, her half-sister.
Right now, Ivy was living peacefully in the Capital, but she was sure the Quinn family was already in total chaos.
Edric had called her last night to scold and threaten her. Now Kate was calling, too.
That family of three was clearly not going to let this go.
