The Heartbreak Prescription (by Glazed Snow) novel Chapter 1144

"No. Do you need something? I'm a bit busy right now, and I've got a meeting later," Ivy replied.

Nathan paused before saying, "I might be home a little late tonight."

"Okay," Ivy replied. "I might be late, too."

Nathan sighed. "Alright, then. I'll let you get back to it."

Ivy bade goodbye, then hung up.

Nathan held his phone and frowned slightly. For some reason, he sensed a subtle change in Ivy's tone. Maybe she really was just busy.

"Mr. Lowe, it's time for the meeting," Baxter reminded him.

Nathan stood up. "Let's go."

-

Nathan got home around eight, and Wanda immediately came over. "Mr. Lowe, welcome home."

Seeing the smile on her face, Nathan asked, "Did something good happen today? Why do you look so happy?"

Wanda smiled. "Today really is a happy day."

Nathan raised an eyebrow. "What's the good news?"

Remembering Ivy's instructions, Wanda shook her head. "I'm not telling you."

Nathan laughed. Even Wanda was acting mysterious now.

He glanced around, but didn't see Ivy. "Has Ivy not come back yet?"

Wanda replied, "It's getting late, so I called Mrs. Lowe. She said she's already on her way back and will be home soon. Honestly, with how wealthy the Lowe family is, Mrs. Lowe doesn't really need to work at all."

"If she enjoys working, let her work. Women shouldn't be trapped by family and marriage. She has a career she loves," Nathan said calmly.

Wanda nodded. "That's true. Anyway, you should go upstairs and take a shower first."

Nathan went upstairs to the bedroom and took a cold shower. Just as he turned off the water, he heard movement outside. Ivy was back.

He put on his pajamas and stepped out. Sure enough, Ivy was there.

She took off her coat, and underneath was a white sweater dress. Her long hair fell smoothly over her shoulders. She wasn't wearing any makeup today, and she looked especially fresh and natural.
