The Heartbreak Prescription (by Glazed Snow) novel Chapter 1131

"What do you think I'm angry about?" Nathan asked.

"I might have an idea," Ivy answered. "I jumped to the conclusion that you were seeing some other woman, but that's not even the point. The point is that I didn't get jealous, so you think that means I don't care enough about you, right?"

Nathan let out a frustrated laugh. He thought she was clueless, but nope, she knew everything.

Well, she was sharp. Of course, she'd figure it out.

"What are you even trying to say right now? Are you telling me I'm the one in the wrong, not you?" Nathan snapped.

"It's not about who's right or wrong. You're just being weird," Ivy replied.

Nathan paused. "What?"

"Why do you need me to care about you so much? Why do you need my attention? If it were any other guy, maybe it would be pride talking. Even if they didn't love their wife, they'd still want to be treated like some treasure. But you're Nathan. I know how you treat women you don't like. You can't even bother to pretend. So if you're this angry, does that mean you've actually fallen for me?"

Nathan froze. Him? Falling for Ivy?

Impossible.

He frowned and denied it. "I haven't."

"Then what is it?" Ivy demanded.

Nathan reached out and pinched her small chin. "The weird one here is you. You're cold as ice during the day, then you're all over me at night. It makes me think you're hiding something from me."

Ivy stayed silent.

She knew Nathan was dangerous. And now, he was starting to suspect her.

She closed her eyes briefly. "What could I possibly be hiding from you? You're overthinking it!"

So if Nathan didn't sleep with her tonight, it wasn't the end of the world. Still, it would've been better if he had. She didn't want to waste any chance.

Ivy wanted to get pregnant so badly. Part of it was the pressure from the Quinn family, but the bigger part was Nathan himself.

If things kept going this way, she was afraid she would slip up. And she didn't want to keep throwing herself at Nathan while he stayed emotionally frozen.

If she managed to get pregnant, the first thing she'd do would be to kick him straight out of her life.

Ivy pulled out a stack of design drafts and started sketching. Before long, her eyelids grew heavy, and she dozed off at the table.

Nathan really did go to the study to work. By the time he came back, it was already midnight.

He pushed open the bedroom door and saw the warm glow of the desk lamp.

Ivy was slumped over the table, fast asleep. Her hair spilled over her shoulders like soft ink, her lashes resting quietly against her cheeks.
