The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 969

Matthew was swamped. He didn't even have the time to teach Mason medicine.

Thinking about this, Matthew turned down Carson right away. "Forget it. I'm too busy to teach you. You're about ten years older than me. It won't work out."

Rebecca dropped to her knees too. "Take Carson under your wing, please. Learning medicine is his life pursuit. He doesn't care about money or using his medical skills to get rich.

"All he wants is to be a famous doctor and help people. Please be his mentor."

Beside them, Pierre pressed his hands together and pleaded, "Please accept Carson. He's the most devoted person to medicine I've ever met."

Seeing two people older than him on their knees, Matthew started feeling uneasy. "Come on. Get up. We can talk about this.

"What year is it? Who kneels to get a mentor? That's not how things are done now. Get up and we'll discuss it."

Carson obediently got up. "Thank you. I—"

Rebecca was still kneeling when she yelled at Carson as he was getting up. "Drop to your knees, Carson. This is the opportunity you've been waiting for your whole life. If you miss it, you'll never have another one."

Carson's expression paled. With a thud, he knelt on the floor again. "Please, Mr. Grant. I really want to learn under your wing."

Matthew glanced at Rebecca again, feeling amazed by how sharp she was. Seeing how the couple was on their knees again, he had no choice but to accept the request. "Fine. You'll be my apprentice from now on."

Rebecca beamed. "I appreciate that, Mr. Grant. Carson is an honest man. If he messes up, just give him a good scolding. Thanks for the favor."

Matthew nodded. "Stand up. I'm going to teach him medicine, not to discipline him. He has to rely on himself."

Rebecca was momentarily taken aback, then added, "A mentor is like a father figure. Even if Carson is older—"

Matthew raised his hand and interrupted Rebecca. "Why don't you be my apprentice instead?"

Rebecca was stunned. She quickly shook her head. "Sorry. I've overstepped. I'll keep quiet and not say anything."

After saying that, Rebecca glared at Carson. He was supposed to say all of that, but he was terrible with words. In the end, she just came across as being irritating.

Noticing Rebecca's glare, Carson was at a loss. "I'll be obedient, Mr. Grant. I'll do whatever you say. From now on, I won't listen to my wife. I'll listen to you."

Matthew tried not to laugh. The way Carson spoke was something else…

He couldn't take it anymore. "Enough already. I'm taking you as my apprentice."
