The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 933

"As soon as I sat on the floor, the door to the operating room opened. Then, I stood up in a hurry, rushing over to the doctor to ask, 'How's it, doctor?'

"The doctor took a glance at me and said, 'What are you so nervous for? You're not the patient's family, are you?'

"I frowned. Maybe it was because of my white coat that he assumed I was his colleague.

"Just as I was about to explain my relationship with Aunt Mila, Devin came over and said, 'Doctor, I'm the patient's family. How's my Mom doing?'

"The doctor then sighed and said regretfully, 'I tried my best.'

"Right after the doctor threw his gloves away, he turned to leave.

"At that moment, I felt as if someone had stabbed me in the heart. It hurt so terribly that my entire body began to tremble.

"Then I heard a thud—Devin had fainted and collapsed to the ground. I was so frightened that I quickly checked on him. Fortunately, though, he merely passed out and regained consciousness when I called him a few times.

"When Devin opened his eyes, he began to wail out loud in agony. He climbed up and sobbed as he approached the operating room, saying, 'Mom, you were just fine earlier. Why'd you have to go so quickly?'

"Then, the doctor who had operated the surgery earlier grabbed ahold of Devin. 'You can't go in. There's blood everywhere because of the surgery, so you can only enter after we've cleared it up.'

"Devin proceeded to sit on the ground and continued to cry.

"I wanted to comfort Devin, but I never said anything in the end and meandered into the operating room. Then, the doctor caught onto me, asking, 'Which department are you from?'

"I didn't know why he asked me that, but I answered, 'I'm from the outpatient facility department.'

"The doctor nodded and said, 'It's been a whole night, so I'm both hungry and tired. It'd be great if you filled in for me.'

"I knew that he had mistaken me for the doctor who came over to cover for him, but I didn't bother clearing things up, because I wanted to see Aunt Mila.

"Once I entered the operating room, the door closed behind me.

"Right outside the door, I heard the doctor's voice as he tried to prevent Devin from barging into the operating room. 'You can't head in. Just wait here.'

"I couldn't understand why the doctor kept holding Devin back, but I continued to walk further inside. Inside the operating room, I saw a blue surgical drape covering the body on the operating table.
