Dylan's gaze remained fixed on Lorenzo as confusion spread across his face. Lorenzo stood motionless in front of a small horsetail reed as thick as a calf, making no move to unzip his pants or relieve himself.
"I don't think he's going to the bathroom," Dylan muttered, nudging Cameron's arm. "What do you think he's doing?"
Before Cameron could answer, Lorenzo let out a sharp breath and suddenly threw a punch. The horsetail reed snapped instantly, followed by a series of crackling sounds as half the stalk crashed to the ground.
"He broke the reed with one punch?" Dylan's eyes widened in disbelief.
Cameron stared in shock, silently grateful that the punch had not landed on him. Otherwise, it would have surely broken several ribs. "Martial artists are incredible," he whispered in awe.
"It's not martial artists that are incredible—it's Mr. Connolly specifically," Dylan corrected him.
"Why do you say so?" Cameron asked, still clutching his belly.
Dylan explained, "Most trained fighters are only somewhat stronger and faster than regular people. Horsetail reed is elastic and tough, unlike bricks or boards. Being able to snap such a thick stalk with one punch makes Mr. Connolly the strongest fighter I've ever seen."
As he said this, Matthew's image flashed through his mind. Matthew was strong too, but compared to Lorenzo, he seemed slightly outmatched.
Lorenzo felt energized after his impromptu training session, like a hibernating animal awakening. Every movement felt light and fluid, and while training was always painful, this moment afterward was pure bliss.
His stomach growled, reminding him how hungry he was, but there were no restaurants in this remote area. He checked his phone impatiently and was about to call Cameron when two beams of headlights appeared in the distance.
His face lit up with anticipation—Matthew had finally arrived. Once he dealt with Matthew, he could head back to Lambda City for dinner.
Cameron and Dylan also spotted the approaching car. Cameron called out excitedly, "Mr. Connolly, Matthew's here!"
