The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 2164

Aurora Williams knew all too well that tampering with the results under everyone's watchful eyes was practically impossible.

For anyone else, this was a dead end.

But Joshua Gardner was different.

Joshua was simply too brilliant. He always possessed an uncanny ability to turn a hopeless situation around.

Even under these dire circumstances, he would surely have a solution.

"Joshua," Aurora murmured, her voice pleading. "I know the results are hard to change, but can you help me think of another way? As long as you're willing, there has to be a way out of this."

Joshua looked at her. "It's not that there aren't other ways, but..."

Hearing that he had a plan, Aurora's eyes immediately lit up.

"Joshua, I knew you'd have a way!" she said eagerly.

But his tone shifted abruptly. "But why should I help you?"

Aurora froze. "You promised me before. Are you going back on your word?"

"I never go back on a promise," Joshua replied smoothly. "However, my promise was to the person who played the violin in the garden, not to a liar like you, Ms. Williams."

Aurora's fingers curled into tight fists. "Joshua, did Stella Cameron say something to you? She and I have a history, so she must have—"

Joshua cut her off with a dismissive wave. "Stella might have issues with you, but Queenie Burton was your best friend. Surely her words hold some truth?"

Queenie!

It was Queenie again!

Without even needing to ask, Aurora knew exactly what Queenie had told him.

In that moment, a suffocating wave of hatred washed over Aurora, making her wish she could tear Queenie apart.

"Those who deceive me never meet a good end," Joshua continued, his voice devoid of emotion. "However, considering how pathetic you look today, I won't take any action myself. I suggest you watch your back."

With that, he turned and walked away without a backward glance.

It was nothing like Aurora, who was always as cold as ice, rarely showing a shred of emotion.

He had always assumed Aurora was just reserved, but now he realized she had simply never loved him.

For her sake, he had willingly signed an agreement promising absolute fidelity.

Even after Zara got pregnant, he hadn't spared her a second glance, let alone asked about her well-being.

He had given his entire heart to Aurora.

And in return, she had slept with Sellers Burton at their engagement party, and even married him while carrying another man's child.

Mr. and Mrs. Chapman already despised Aurora.

Her infidelity was bad enough, but trying to pass off another man's child as their flesh and blood completely trampled on their bottom line.

Mr. Chapman announced publicly, "The shares given to Aurora and Shay are completely revoked. McCoy and Aurora will divorce immediately, and the previous agreement between them is null and void."

Jonathan Williams frowned, about to fight for some remaining leverage for Aurora, when Mrs. Chapman spoke up. "If you refuse, we have no problem taking this to court."
