Stella pulled the elegant envelope from her bag and handed it to Leonard.
She might absolutely despise Aurora, but she wasn't petty enough to steal someone else's mail—even if it belonged to her worst enemy.
Leonard gave the invitation a single, dismissive glance and tossed it onto the nightstand.
"Not going?" Stella asked.
"Are you?" he countered.
Aurora wasn't an artist Leonard cared for, though he could admit her current success required at least some genuine talent.
If it were anyone else's exhibition, he might have made an appearance. But it was Aurora.
He didn't want to do anything that might give Stella the wrong idea.
Stella smiled faintly. "She sent me an invite too. I don't have much going on lately, so I figured I'd go watch the show."
"I'll go with you," Leonard stated simply.
Stella didn't object. "A few days ago, Aurora and Queenie got into a massive, physical fight right outside this hospital.
Bystanders filmed it and posted it online, and it trended for days.
Queenie retaliated by leaking a bunch of Aurora's dirty secrets. The Williams PR team managed to suppress most of it, but the damage to her reputation is done.
Looks like their friendship is permanently over."
Stella couldn't help but remember that the fight happened on the exact same day she had gone to check on Joshua.
Could Joshua have pulled the strings behind that?
But she honestly couldn't fathom what he could have possibly said to turn the two women against each other so violently.
Joshua had been discharged from the hospital after a five-day stay.
Stella only found out because she had asked one of the nurses on his floor.
He hadn't reached out to her since.
There was no revenge, no stalking, no psychological games.
