Because the mastermind hadn't made any moves yet, they were extra cautious after noticing a missing chunk in the hospital's surveillance footage from last night.
Reid and Nick were deep in conversation, oblivious to the thoughtful look on Mirabella's face. Her eyelids drooped slightly, and her fingers tapped gently inside her coat pockets. While Nellie's computer skills weren't quite on Mirabella's level, wiping a simple surveillance segment was no biggie for her.
"Take me to see it," Nick said to Reid, always the cautious one when it came to anything about Chester. Even though Chester was fine, the weird glitch in the surveillance was a clear sign something was up.
"Sure thing, the surveillance room's on the first floor..." Reid replied, making a beeline for the elevator.
"Alright." Nick suddenly remembered Mirabella's knack for computers. "Hey sis, are you heading to the surveillance room?"
Mirabella waved it off casually. "Nah, I'll check on Chester in his room first."
"That works," Nick nodded.
Soon, he and Reid piled into the elevator. Meanwhile, Mirabella headed straight to Chester's room. After checking his pulse, she grabbed a chair to sit next to him. Then she pulled out her phone, switched it to computer mode, and her fingers flew over the virtual keyboard.
Thirty seconds later, she put away her phone, gave Chester one last glance, and left the room. Next stop was Cassie's room.
"I'll sort out your discharge papers in a bit," Mirabella said lazily, eyeing the young boy pretending to be engrossed in a book.
Cassie, instead of looking thrilled to be sprung from the hospital, flopped back on the bed dramatically. "Oh, too much blood drawn, I'm still so dizzy. I think I need a few more days to recover."
Staying in the hospital was his ticket to dodge those three boxes of review papers. Leaving meant diving into a pile of homework.
"Is that so?" Mirabella casually pulled out her trusty silver needle. "Don't worry, with me here, dizziness isn't on the menu."
Cassie: "..."
