"Alright," Nick nodded, completely absorbed in his computer screen, oblivious to the look on Cassie's face.
Meanwhile, Mirabella was already diving into the program. Each time she typed in a line of code, the black command panel flashed by so quickly it was hard to follow. Even the tech pros in the room couldn't keep up with her speed.
Her quick pace only added to her reputation as a pro. Reid, standing nearby, couldn't help but be impressed. He whispered to Nick, "Do you think Miss Mira is a hacker or something?"
He'd never seen fingers move that fast.
Nick acted like he hadn't heard Reid's question. Admit he didn't know his own sister's skills? That would be embarrassing!
In under thirty seconds, Mirabella had the repair program ready. She hit the confirm button.
The tech team collectively held their breath.
But soon, a red exclamation mark popped up on the screen.
Recovery failed.
Mirabella leaned back, shaking her head, "It's no use. The footage is too damaged to fix."
Nick sighed, "If it can't be done, let's move on."
Mirabella exited to the main screen, stood up, and gave Nick a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "I checked upstairs; nothing seemed out of place. Maybe whoever trashed the footage wasn't gunning for Chester."
"Let's hope so," Nick said, his eyes serious. Knowing Chester couldn't leave the hospital yet, he turned to Reid, "Make sure we have extra eyes keeping watch."
Reid nodded, "Will do, Mr. Nick."
Mirabella had no qualms and said, "I'll take Cassie to get the discharge papers sorted."
Nick nodded, "Alright."
Soon, Mirabella and Cassie left the surveillance room.
