Celeste and the family decided to head south, where they planned to explore the scenery and visit famous historical sites.

After a few days of travelling, Celeste could tell that Jordyn was having a wonderful time. Moreover, she had grown closer to the rest of the Rodriguez family as well.

On the evening of the third day, just after they returned to the hotel, Matthias sent Celeste a message. When she opened it, she discovered that he had sent her a screenshot of a news article.

The article was about Trevor.

Before she had even finished reading the text in the screenshot, Matthias sent another message.

"I heard he flew to Havenport this time specifically for this project. That man certainly keeps himself busy. But if I remember correctly, Fleming Group has rarely ventured into the pharmaceutical industry, hasn't it? He's investing so much money all at once. Isn't he afraid of losing everything?"

Celeste didn't want to discuss anything related to Trevor. After all, he had nothing to do with her anymore.

Matthias had simply been bored, stumbled across some news about Trevor online, and couldn't resist sharing the gossip with her. They exchanged a few more messages before changing the subject.

Celeste had no idea what Trevor had been busy with over the past few days, but she knew that he didn't seem to have called Jordyn at all during that time.

She was still thinking about this when her phone suddenly rang.

The caller was none other than Trevor.

Celeste paused for two seconds before answering. Before she could say anything, Trevor spoke first. "I've heard from Hannah that Jo went on a trip with you. I just tried calling her, but she didn't answer."

Realising that he had called to speak to Jordyn, Celeste handed her phone to the little girl, who had just finished showering and was standing not far away.

"Your dad's calling."

Jordyn hesitated, but eventually took the phone. With her head lowered, she spoke in a flat voice. "Dad."

Trevor hummed a response, and his voice was tinged with a smile as he spoke. "Have you been enjoying yourself these past few days?"
