The Blue-eyed Wolf In The Woods novel Chapter 79

"Good. That's a great start." My father stared back at me with his light sky colored eyes.

"You're going to have to keep fighting. Your wolf is going to try and take over again." My grandfather stated.

"I only lasted 3 minutes out here before he took over before."

"So make it 6 this time." Dad said.

"I'll try."

"Let's walk through the woods. You need to get accustomed to functioning as a human outdoors."

It was about 30 degrees out, and I was butt naked.

My change had shredded my clothes from before.

But there was no going back to clothe myself up and try to warm up.

No, I had to do this vulnerable and exposed to the elements. I needed to suffer hard to win the right to have control over my body.

I walked between my father and grandfather, ridgidly flexing my muscles trying to keep myself warm.

I tried to think of anything that would make me stay warm, the hot summer sun, sitting in front of a big fire in my fireplace, Krystal's body against mine.

I could feel my body warm from my core and out towards my extremities.

"You can, if you believe. Don't give up boy. Keep thinking about her, she's the only thing that will keep your fight burning inside you." My grandfather said from the side of me, where he was crouchd next to my dad.

I started picturing Krystal. I remembered all the memories we've shared over the past 10 years. I could picture her as a little girl, running after me through the woods behind her house, or that time she broke her ankle riding her bike, and I put her on my back and carried her home. She was only 10, and I was 12, I could't technically know for sure if she was my mate yet, but I knew. Wolves aren't able to recognize their mate until they turn 16. For some it will take even longer. Some of my pack still hasn't found their mates. But I knew. I knew when I first saw her at the age of 10.

By the time I turned 16, I knew for sure. The first time I felt the power of the mate bond, was the night Krystal saved my pack and I. It has been a brutally cold winter, hunting was becoming more and more difficult with the crippling cold. The animals we normally hunted were becoming scarce to find. The pack was starving, and no one was sure if we were going to make it through the winter. I had almost given up hope, until one night when Krystal didn't show up at our regular meeting place. For a moment I though maybe she forgot, or gave up on me. Then, a cold burst of wind blew across the trees carrying a heavenly scent. It smelt familiar, I knew I had smelt it before, but this time it was more pronounced and potent then ever before. It was like the concentrated smell of summertime; roses, citrus, and warmth. The opposite of how I felt right now.

I turned to look back at her house, to try and ind the owner of that scent, and was met with the sight of Krystal in the middle of her yard, crouched down in the snow, holding bundles of what I didnt't realize at the time was meat, from her freezer. She was calling out to me to come closer, and take what she had in her hands. My instincts told me to retreat, but my heart wanted to move closer to her. She started advncing foward, moving towards me, but I instantly backed up, edging myself closer to the woods.

She started to cry, and yell at me to take the food she was offering. I couldn't stand watching her cry like that, it was breaking my heart. So I went over to where she was kneeling in the snow, shivering from the cold wind blowing gusts of snow all around her. I placed my body against hers to block her from getting hit by the wind.

The moment my body touched hers, I felt and undeniable spark of energy and electricity that raced through my skin, blood and bones, and all the way to my heart. I felt rejuvenated, and alive for the first time all winter. I knew right then and there that she was now undeniably mine, and I would never let anything get in the way of being with her forever.
