The Billionaire's Dangerous Obsession (Nivera) novel Chapter 187

Alejandro stayed behind for a moment, fists clenched so tight his knuckles were white. His lungs burned, every breath sharp and shallow. He turned to the employees, their faces pale and fearful, and forced his voice

into iron.

Get back to work.

No one moved, as it appeared they were in shock over what they had just witnessed.

Alejandro slammed his palm against the reception desk. NOW!

The employees scattered, muttering nervously, but they obeyed just as he headed out of the company and straight for his car.

Just as he got into the driver’s seat, the lawyer answered his call.

Santiago, drop whatever the fuck you’re doing. Antonio’s been arrested. Rape and trafficking charges. I don’t care how you do it, but you meet me at the station now.

As soon as he dropped the call, he made another one to the head of the family’s PR team. The head seemed to have already seen the news.

I’ve seen the footage already. It’s everywhere. Social media, news outlets, and blogs. They’re all running with it.

I want the narrative contained. Nothing goes to print without our filter. Spin it as baseless allegations, an obvious smear campaign. Flood the feeds with it. Shut it down.”

I can’t shut it down, not completely, sir.The head replied. We’ll flood the feeds with counterstories, positive press. We’ll lean on the outlets we own to cast doubt on the charges. But sir, this isn’t like money laundering or tax evasion. These accusationsrape, traffickingthey stick. People don’t forget them.

Alejandro’s voice dropped, steelhard. Then make them forget. Use everything we have. Antonio will not be branded a rapist while I’m breathing.”

The head hesitated only a second before replying, Understood.

After the call, he proceeded to dial another contact, and it was none other than Martins. After dropping him off at the office, his head of security left for the warehouse that had caught fire, but he had much more important things to handle.

Find out who the hell planted this,” Alejandro ordered, his tone like ice. I don’t care how. I want names, I want locations, and I want them tonight. Someone tipped off the feds, and someone manufactured this bullshit testimony. Track it. Tear apart every rival who stands to gain from this. Pierce, Navarro, every last one of them.

On it, boss,Martin answered. We’ll get to the bottom of it.”

Only after the calls did he allow himself a single breath, leaning heavily against his seat. For the first time in years, he felt the ground shift under his feet. Whoever was behind this wasn’t just after their money. They

wanted their empire in flames, their reputations ruined, and their families broken.

And he’d find them.

By the time he arrived at the station, his phone was buzzing with constant notifications. Articles already screamed headlines in bold: Garcia Heir Accused of Sex Crimes. His blood boiled hotter with every ping.

He immediately muted the notifications, as they’d do nothing but make his blood boil.

The media frenzy was at its peak. Flashes from cameras blinded him as he stepped out of the car.

Mr. García! Is your brother guilty?

Do you deny the trafficking allegations?

Is this linked to the federal raids?

Alejandro ignored every question, his jaw set, his expression carved from stone.

Inside, the walls closed in on him. He hated police stations. The stench of cheap coffee and disinfectant mixed with the smugness of men who thought they had power because they carried guns. Alejandro knew better. Real power didn’t need a badge.

He spotted Santiago near the front desk, speaking quickly to an officer. The lawyer’s face was calm and composed, but Alejandro saw the tightness in his jaw. He strode over.

Well?Alejandro demanded.

They’re booking him now,Santiago replied smoothly. We’ll get access to him once he’s processed. The charges aresevere, Alejandro. They’re claiming multiple witnesses, including a woman willing to testify.

Alejandro felt his throat close for a second before fury filled the void. A woman? Who the fuck is she?

They haven’t released her name yet.”

Alejandro cursed under his breath. This was worse than he thought. An anonymous witness meant it could be anyone, paid or coerced, and that meant the story could spin out of control before they even touched it. His pulse thundered in his ears.

He turned away, pacing the corridor. His thoughts were a storm. Antonio was no saint, but he was no trafficker, no rapist. They all had blood on their hands, yes, but not this.

He rubbed a hand over his face, forcing his breathing steady. He had to think. He had to act fast.

Santiago’s voice cut through his storm. Alejandro.”

He looked back. The lawyer’s eyes narrowed slightly. We have to play this carefully. If we push too hard, it looks like intimidation. If we don’t push at all, Antonio drowns. There’s a balance.”
