Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1669

Milka was about to pull out of the parking lot when she stopped and grabbed her phone, typing in: “If you kiss your drunk ex-boyfriend, is that considered drunk driving?”

After a second, she deleted “ex” and tried the search again.

By the time Milka made it home, it was already 10:30. Her dad was sound asleep.

She tiptoed upstairs and called her mom. As always, the first thing her mother asked was, “How’s your dad doing?”

She always pretended not to care much, but she never missed a day asking about him.

“He’s much better,” Milka replied.

The next morning.

Anya was brushing her teeth when Leo finished his run and came back with breakfast.

“Hey, you busy tonight? I’ll pick you up after work. Let’s grab dinner with those two troublemakers.”

Anya nodded, her mouth full of foam. “Mmm-hmm, I’m free!”

Leo gave her a playful tap on the head, grinning. “Rinse your mouth first, then come eat.”

Over breakfast, Anya asked about Leo’s friend, Chunky. “So, how much weight has he lost now?”

“About forty-two pounds. I’m pretty sure I can keep him on track. Don’t worry, little one.”

Anya smiled so hard her eyes turned into crescent moons.

Later that morning, Leo dropped Anya off at her office building. While she waited for the elevator, she spotted Patty from yesterday.

Thanks to Milka’s advice, Anya had gotten a lot smarter at work. Patty would mutter, “That girl looks all sweet and innocent, but she’s a real piece of work. You never know when she’ll stab you in the back. Better watch out. College grads these days aren’t as naive as we were.”

Anya shot back, “If I didn’t keep my guard up, I’d end up taking the blame for other people’s screw-ups. Some folks have been here for years and still can’t get their own work right—then expect the newbies to cover for them. And they have the nerve to call me scheming? If your skills are lacking and your attitude stinks, stirring up drama between coworkers won’t save you. I’ll just go tell Ms. Zheng.”

“Guess I’m not good at much—except calling people out and reporting drama!”

Patty’s face turned from red to pale. She had nothing to say. “Guess I underestimated you.”

Anya really did walk off with her files, headed straight for Ms. Zheng’s office—but she didn’t actually snitch. It was just a scare tactic, something Milka had taught her.

Milka had told her, “I know all about your company’s pecking order. Ms. Zheng is the boss, and you’re her assistant. That makes you her right hand, the one everyone needs to watch out for. Don’t let them push you around.”

So, Anya made sure everyone else thought twice before messing with her.
