Audrey Williams never let anyone walk all over her. If she hadn’t done something, there was no way she’d let anyone accuse her of it.
She kept her face calm, not even a flicker of annoyance showing. Instead, she pulled out her phone. “Oh? Iris and Amy keep denying it and think I’m lying. Alright, why don’t you all take a look for yourselves? What’s this?”
Everyone paused, then turned to look at Audrey’s phone.
She tapped the screen and a video started playing. There, clear as day, were Iris and Amy.
Audrey had recorded their whole game. The clip showed both of them totally caught up in their own fun, not saying a single word to Audrey. They treated her like she wasn’t even there. It couldn’t have been clearer that they were leaving her out on purpose.
Harden let out a laugh. “Wow, I must be blind because I didn’t see any teaching happening.”
The rest of the group fell silent, their eyes shifting to Iris and Amy, their expressions growing awkward.
When Iris saw Audrey pull out her phone, she had a sinking feeling. The moment that video started, both she and Amy went pale.
Neither of them ever imagined Audrey would have secretly recorded them.
Amy couldn’t hold back. She glared at Audrey, her voice sharp and angry. “Audrey, how could you be so low?”
Audrey slipped her phone into her bag, giving Amy a cool look. “Are you talking about yourself, Amy? Because honestly, that fits you pretty well.”
“You…” Amy sputtered, furious. She was about to lash out, but Walter Wilson stepped in before she could.
“That’s enough. If you never intended to help her, you shouldn’t have offered. There are plenty of people here who can teach.”
He didn’t call anyone out by name, but everyone could hear the annoyance in his voice.
Iris started to panic. She rushed to explain. “Walter, let me explain. It’s not what you think…”
Walter just looked at her, his eyes cold. “Then what is it? You were so into your own game you just forgot? It wasn’t on purpose?”
Iris bit her lip, face tense, wanting to say that was it, but under Walter’s sharp stare, she just couldn’t get the words out.
Seeing Walter take her side made Audrey feel a little better, but she didn’t want to ruin the night for everyone. She tugged at Walter’s sleeve, smiling up at him. “It’s fine, really. It’s just a small thing, no need to be upset.”
He stepped forward, his expression cold. “If you don’t want to play, go home. Don’t start drama here.”
His eyes swept over the group, the warning obvious.
Then he turned to Audrey, taking her hand. “Come on. If you want to learn, I’ll teach you myself.”
“Alright!” Audrey’s mood instantly lifted. All the bad feelings from Iris and Amy’s behavior disappeared. She happily followed Walter to his table.
Harden hurried to catch up with them.
The rest of the group was left standing there. They glanced between Walter’s group and Iris, then quietly drifted away to their own games.
In the end, only Iris, Amy, and Abbott were left.
Abbott stood by Iris, his eyes full of concern. “See? Walter’s never going to respect you. Why do you even bother liking him?”
