Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1058

She worried she was getting in Dennis Williams’s way.

Her thoughtfulness made his heart feel soft and warm. He reached out and ruffled her hair, his voice gentle as he said, “It’s fine. Everything’s already sorted out.”

Camila Davis looked into his eyes. He wasn’t just saying it to make her feel better, and that finally set her mind at ease.

They enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea together. Later, Dennis took her out to see an opera.

It was a classic performance of Carmen.

At the end of the story, the heroine chooses to die rather than lose her independence and freedom. The music soared, and all that tragedy just swept through the theater, leaving everyone breathless.

Camila was still wrapped up in those emotions even after they left.

Dennis knew she was someone who felt things deeply. Holding her hand, he spoke softly as they walked, “Come on, Camila, don’t be sad. It’s just a story. It’s not real.”

Camila shook her head, a little smile tugging at her lips. “I know it’s a story. The emotions just hit me so hard. The drama was incredible. But honestly, stories come from real life, don’t they? There must be so many tragedies happening in the world every single day.”

She hadn’t meant to think about herself, but now that the topic came up, she couldn’t help but glance at Dennis. “Have you ever wondered what you’d do if I never remembered you?”

She thought about it. If she’d lost her memory when he wasn’t there, maybe she would have fallen for someone else. Or maybe fate would have pulled them apart for good. That would have been another tragedy, wouldn’t it?

The streets of Kaston were always full of couples in love, so no one paid much attention to them.

Aaron and the bodyguards, though, politely turned away, grinning to themselves. Mr. Williams and Ms. Davis were just too sweet together. They’d never seen Dennis this openly affectionate before. Even without seeing the kiss, they could feel the love between them.

Back in their home country, though, someone was losing her mind.

Cynthia Lee nearly exploded when she got the news. “What did you just say?” she screeched, her voice sharp with disbelief. “Dennis took Camila Davis out of the country? When did that happen? Where did they go? Do you know where they are now?”

She had been convinced that everything was going exactly as planned. She couldn’t believe those two idiots had let Camila Davis slip away again. And this time, she had even gone abroad with Dennis.
