At this point, Miss Fiona, usually a pretty frosty character, finally piped up, "President Ingram? You mean Sebastian from Skyline Corporation?"
Stephanie grinned and said, "Yeah, that's the guy. He's been burning the midnight oil lately and has been super busy with year-end stuff."
"No wonder; running such a big corporation is bound to keep him on his toes."
Fiona gave Stephanie a once-over with a calculating gaze, then dropped a bombshell, "Are you Sebastian's sugar baby?"
Everyone was dumbfounded.
Stephanie was completely taken aback. What on earth?!
Dashiell frowned and said, "Watch your mouth, Steph is Sebastian's fiancée."
Fiona frowned, "The future lady of the Ingram family? Doesn't look like it..."
"Look like it or not, it's the truth! Sebastian admitted it himself."
"Oh, sorry... I just got back to the country, and I’m still catching up on things. Don't take offense, Ms. Bishop."
Stephanie had no interest in entertaining this.
But she didn't want to let this slide either; she said, "You're new here and still catching up. We're cool with Dashiell, so we'll let it slide. But when you meet other people, not everyone might be as forgiving with your surprising remarks."
Even Stephanie herself didn't realize how much she had changed over the past half a year.
Even the way she spoke now had a certain power to it.
She simply rebuked Fiona, who frowned, "What do you mean, Ms. Bishop?"
Fiona suddenly stood up, "Dashiell, what do you mean? I agreed to meet your friends out of respect for you; now you think I messed up too?"
Dashiell replied calmly, "Respect me? Does my family need your respect? I thought you were reasonable, but you offended the Ingram family. Do you want your family business to go under faster, or do you want to drag me down with you?
“And they are all my friends; if you look down on actors, then you're looking down on me too!”
"If you think so little of me, why agree to the arranged marriage?"
"But you're different; acting is just a hobby for you." Fiona replied.
"This hobby is also my profession. Fiona, let's call it a day; I'll take you home. As for the arranged marriage, I'll talk to my brother about it and get it called off."
"Dashiell... you're going to call off the marriage over this?"
