Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1377

She nodded. "You could say we know each other."

They had met once, Kimberley had done her a favor, and Lizetta considered herself somewhat of a fan.

"So, does Candy's father also have the last name Evert?"

Realizing how intrusive she sounded, Lizetta quickly added, "I know doctors aren't supposed to disclose patient family details, but I just need to confirm something. I promise I'm not digging for celebrity gossip, and I won't tell a soul."

Sarah smiled warmly and waved it off.

"Oh, not at all, I'm not worried about that. It seems she's a single mother. The father's section on the admission form is completely blank."

Lizetta's heart raced faster. She asked.

"Do you happen to have a photo of Candy? Could I see it?"

Sarah shook her head. "I don't have one myself, but Ms. Kimberley is very approachable. A few of the nurses asked for a photo with her, and she agreed. They might have caught Candy in the frame. Wait here, Ms. Madden, let me go ask."

She stepped out of the office. Bored while waiting, Lizetta pulled out her phone, opened her WhatsApp chat with Jerome, and sent a cute sticker of a cat peeking out.

Jerome replied almost instantly.

[Is Joy asleep? Are you discharging tomorrow?]

He knew that unless Joy was resting, Lizetta wouldn't have time to chat with him.

Smiling at his message, Lizetta recorded a voice note.

"Joy just fell asleep, and we're heading home first thing in the morning. Jerome, stop worrying about us. Did Grandpa stop setting you up on dates the last couple of days? Because let me tell you, I met a girl here—beautiful, kind-hearted, multi-talented, gentle but resilient. She would make the perfect aunt for Joy. When are you coming so I can set up an introduction?"

Releasing the button, the voice note sent just as Sarah walked back in.

Lizetta quickly stood up, looking at her expectantly.
