"The poor thing," Sarah sighed. "She has trigeminal neuralgia at such a young age. The pain is so excruciating that even grown adults can't handle it. But she's incredibly brave and sweet. Terrified of worrying her mother, she endures the flare-ups in total silence, even when her face goes completely white from the agony."
Lizetta hadn't expected someone so small to be battling such a severe and agonizing condition.
Her face filled with worry. "Is it critical?"
Sarah offered a reassuring smile.
"She's already had surgery, performed by a top expert in the field. From what we can see, her recovery is going extremely well. Children grow fast and have incredible healing abilities. She's going to be just fine."
Hearing this, Lizetta finally let out a breath of relief.
"Please keep a close eye on her, Director. And please, I need you to keep my questions about her strictly confidential."
"Of course, Ms. Madden. Don't worry."
Meanwhile, Jerome was sitting in the CEO's office at the Madden Group, with Conrad West seated directly across from him.
Conrad's expression was incredibly grim, his face dark with stress.
He was a man who usually took excellent care of himself. In the past, his face had been unlined, his skin smooth and glowing, and with his gold-rimmed glasses, he had perfectly embodied the sophisticated, successful gentleman trope that easily charmed younger women.
But in the barely two weeks since the Porter family scandal erupted, Conrad looked as if he had aged a decade.
He hadn't dyed his hair, leaving prominent white roots exposed. Deep wrinkles now lined the corners of his eyes, and a harsh crease marred his forehead. The sheer misery of his current reality seemed to have permanently altered his face.
Right now, he radiated suppressed frustration and explosive anxiety.
