“Since we’re going to the bookstore, let’s not eat these yet. We’ll bring them to share with Jasmine. She likes the same things as I do and can eat more than I can at the moment. She’s already showing. It’s exactly the time she needs more nutrients and has to eat more than three meals a day.”

Imogen asked, “Has she put on a lot of weight? The pregnant ladies at my company gained weight super fast after they got pregnant. They said that if you get morning sickness, you won’t be able to eat much, if at all, but once it’s gone, their appetites increase tremendously and they gain weight because they can’t control themselves. They said many ladies end up with big babies.”

Serenity hurriedly asked her, “Do I look fat?” She had quite the appetite too.

“You’re not obviously showing right now. You look a bit round, but not fat.”

Serenity sighed in relief and said, “Luckily, I still work. If I stayed home all day, I’d definitely be as round as a watermelon right now.”

She insisted on working even after finding out she was pregnant not only because the company needed hands, but also because she was afraid she would become a pig just eating and sleeping at home every day.

She was in good health and was fit from learning self-defense, so she was a little better off than the average woman. She was only going to stop working once she was eight months in. Once she gave birth, she was going to work on getting back in shape right away to get back to her pre-pregnancy state.

Although Zachary had said before that he would always love her regardless of how much weight she gained, Serenity would not indulge herself and would always put herself first. Sometimes, men could be listened to, but not believed.

Having decided on their next course of action, they left Serenity’s office with the fruits and snacks Imogen bought. Serenity’s driver was chatting with the guard on duty in the security room when he saw Serenity walk out.

He immediately walked out of the room and greeted Serenity and Imogen with a smile as he asked, “Are you heading out, missus?”

“Yep, we’re going to the bookstore.”

The driver opened the car door for Serenity and got into the driver’s seat once the two were in the car. The security guard hurriedly opened the gate. Soon, they left the building. The two bodyguards Zachary had assigned to protect Serenity followed suit in a black sedan.
