“I couldn’t sleep and was bored, so I strolled around the block. There are quite a lot of shops nearby. It’s really convenient to buy whatever you need.”
Imogen was about to help Serenity sit down, but Serenity smiled and waved her off. “It’s fine. I can sit on my own. I’m not yet at the stage where it’s difficult to move around.”
They both sat down. Imogen pulled the bags over to her and said, “I bought some fruits and a few types of snacks. I’ve tried all of them and made sure they tasted fine before buying them.”
“I’m not picky.” Serenity put her glass down and scooted closer to see what Imogen had bought.
Imogen laughed. “I’m not picky either, but I still prefer eating good food.”
“Everyone’s the same. If there’s something good to eat, of course we’ll have that, but otherwise, anything edible will do.” Serenity had lived a hard life. Even if she was filthy rich now that she was the eldest Mrs. York in her generation, she still maintained some habits.
She picked up one of the snacks to try it.
“The food from this place isn’t bad. Elisa and I occasionally buy from them.” However, most of the time, they brought food from home because their private chefs made better food.
“Do you still want to go out then?” Serenity asked. She had previously agreed to take Imogen out shopping after she woke up from her nap.
“No, let’s just go to the bookstore where you made your fortune and hang out there. Introduce me to your friend Mrs. Bucham. I have to hug that thick thigh of hers firmly.”
“It would be nice if Ms. Stone liked me, but it’s fine otherwise. I just have to cling to Mrs. Bucham tightly.”
Serenity laughed so hard she almost choked on her snack. She hurriedly took a few sips of water to wash it down before saying with a smile, “You’re trying to kill me with laughter, Jen.”
“I’m just telling the truth. Who wouldn’t want to suck up to Josh Bucham’s wife, knowing what he does? Serenity, you’ve always been her best friend, so you might not feel it, but you have no idea how badly we strangers would like to connect with her.”
Josh was a Bucham. Everyone knew what the Buchams did. It would definitely help a lot to be friends with Jasmine if they needed a strong network in the future because they could seek help from her husband.
Serenity was speechless. Alright, she really had never realized that. Even if she and Jasmine were not best friends, Zachary would ask Josh to help out if they needed it. She did not need to suck up to anybody at all.
