Renee watched Vivian with a knowing smile.
Vivian, unable to utter the words, bit her silver teeth and continued to gaze at Marcelo, silently begging for his help.
Considering her relationship with his brother, Marcelo reassured, "It's okay not to call her that."
If his brother were still alive and married to Vivian, they would have referred to Vivian as "sister-in-law."
Renee’s smile stiffened slightly, but it didn't matter to her. She didn't need Vivian’s acknowledgment as "sister-in-law," and the thought of it even disgusted her.
She didn’t want Marcelo and Vivian to be seen as siblings. She wanted Vivian to have nothing to do with her husband.
Was that too much to ask?
Meanwhile,Jessica showed a keen interest in the piece Renee had composed and started discussing it with her.
Finding the conversation uninteresting, Marcelo decided to step out to the balcony for a smoke. Seizing the opportunity, Vivian followed him.
“Marcelo, are you angry with me for siding with your father today?" She hurriedly explained, "I brought gifts on behalf of my family, and he was probably just being polite because of my family. I've always been on your side."
“I am not angry with you,"He replied, the crimson flame flickering at his fingertips.
“Really? If you're not angry, then why did you ask Damian to entertain me?" Vivian looked down, hurt.
“Vivian,Renee is my wife in public and in private.I can’t hang out with another woman because I won’t be pleased at all if she were to entertain another man.”
“I know that..." Vivian responded, feeling frustrated. Why did he have to keep emphasizing it?
Marcelo remained silent, his gaze fixed on Vivian, as if silently studying her. His gaze remained calm yet imposing, and the unspoken message hung heavily in the air. Since he had a wife, his companion could only be her.
"I am the real daughter of the Hudson family, as you must have heard," Catherine declared without beating around the bush. "I can tell you don't like Renee, and neither do I! As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
She dangled the bait, suggesting an alliance.
In this social circle, Vivian rarely encountered someone who would openly express their disdain for someone else in such a blunt and uncouth manner. She studied Catherine carefully. This heiress, fell far short of Renee in terms of looks, demeanor, and refinement.
"Miss Hudson, I understand that Renee and Marcelo are married, and I won't be a pawn in any attempt to interfere in their marriage." Vivian always carefully chose her words, making sure not to give others any leverage against her.
Catherine decided to push further, raising her chin defiantly. "What if I were to tell you that it wouldn't be considered inappropriate for you to intervene in their marriage? Do you know why Renee married Marcelo?"
Vivian hadn't given much thought to this perspective.
"Because of a marriage alliance between the Hudson and the King families,"Catherine revealed confidently. "But Renee isn't of the Hudson bloodline, and technically, she had no right to marry Marcelo!"
