Chapter 212 Deep sense
He always presented himself with a gentle demeanor in her presence.
Yet, could a man who emerged from the formidable Hill family without any shield, one who clawed his way to power from within their ranks, truly embody pure benevolence?
Sarah was never deceived. She always recognized Marvin’s true nature.
“Even a puppy grows up,” Marvin remarked, his thumb inadvertently caressing her cheek. “Marvin, how could you pursue a woman by being so overbearing?”
Sarah removed Marvin’s hand, massaging her chin where his fingers had lingered.
Marvin’s expression became tender.
He elaborated, “I’ve never pursued anyone before. I assumed the usual tactics of courting wouldn’t impress you, hence I opted to follow my own approach.”
“Your approach includes watching me bathe without my consent? Damn, you even got a boner!” Sarah erupted, her words escaping before she could censor them.
Immediately after speaking, she wished she could take them back.
The lounge of the jet fell silent, with only Sarah and Marvin present, the atmosphere tensing momentarily.
“You saw that?” Marvin expressed mild shock but sought confirmation in his tone.
Upon reflection, his words seemed tinged with a subtle delight.
“Yes, I saw it! Marvin, I’m not sure why you’ve become so insistent all of a sudden, but I’ve had my fill of actions driven by lust. I, Sarah, refuse to be treated as a mere object of desire,” she firmly declared.
She had never been short of admirers since her youth, only after Quincy entered her life did her romantic possibilities dwindle.
“I want to marry you, Sarah.” Marvin sat up straight. “I will deal with the Hill family, so that renders your previous refusal invalid.”
Sarah’s heart raced momentarily.
Marvin’s revelation to marry her kept echoing in her mind.
Hearing these words earnestly from a man more than once would stir any woman’s heart.
Sarah had cherished moments of Marvin’s companionship and care.
She couldn’t erase the memory of him silently observing her, his gaze laden with her reflection,

bestowing upon her a sense, that she needn’t fear a future where she would never experience love.
As if he would eternally stand by her side.
This feeling resembled the warmth one might find in a home.
It mirrored the comfort that invaded her dreams after the demise of the Curtis family.
Yet, beautiful dreams would inevitably end.
Upon awakening from dreams, she was greeted by a reality that was starkly colder and more ruthless.
“Marvin, I don’t harbor affection for you, nor do I love you,” Sarah declared, seizing Marvin’s hand and guiding it to her heart.
Thump!
Her heartbeat resonated under his palm.
“I believe it’s best to guard my heart closely. If it’s my body you’re after, once we disembark and reach the hotel, I’ll quench your curiosity.”
She implied that after that, she wanted him to leave her alone.
Marvin retracted his hand, yet the sensation of her warmth and the beating of her heart haunted his fingertips.
Even in his thoughts, the image of her sleeping, with her neckline unintentionally exposed and the
glimpse of what lay beneath it, involuntarily sprang to mind.
“Sarah, keep your heart. I have no intention of coercing it from you,” he assured her, “Nor will I impose upon your body.”
He knew she had been wounded by Quincy.
Reflecting on this, Marvin’s eyes briefly betrayed a piercing intensity.
Elsewhere, Renee woke up in Marcelo’s embrace.
He cradled her gently with one arm, his other hand occupied with documents he perused.
As Luke was about to leave the bedroom, Renee’s eyes fluttered open, and he found himself locked in her
gaze.
“Mrs. King, you are awake.” He gave an awkward smile.
“When did you join us on the flight?” Renee asked Luke, puzzled.

Glancing around, she realized they were still aboard the plane.
“Madam, you’ve all been on the ground for an hour now. The plane is parked on the tarmac,” Luke
explained.
Renee was momentarily at a loss for words, finding the situation somewhat absurd.
“Did you sleep well?” Marcelo saw her wake up and helped her sit up.
“Where’s Sarah?” Renee looked towards the direction of the lounge, hearing no sound.
“She was escorted home by someone.”
“And Marvin?”
“He sent Sarah back.”
The sun was setting.
“Mr. King!”
Right after Renee and Marcelo stepped outside the airport, a group of sharply dressed individuals in suits and polished shoes caught their eye from afar. These were the seasoned leaders of the KM Group, the trusted circle around Marcelo, all in their thirties and forties.
They gazed at Marcelo with eyes full of hope, having waited for his return.
“Why are you all here?” Marcelo asked.
“Luke let us know you’ve arrived, so we’re here to escort you,” one of the senior executives explained, “Mr.
King, since we’re all here, how about we discuss business?”
The meeting was their real purpose.
Their eagerness wasn’t about working overtime; it was because Marcelo seemed in high spirits that morning. They were keen on addressing the company’s issues while he was in a favorable mood, hoping
to avoid harsh criticism.
“You can go back to the company. I’ll head back on my own,” Renee suggested when she saw this. But
Marcelo grasped her hand, unwilling to let her leave. “Come with me.”
Their relationship had just been mended, and Marcelo wasn’t ready to let her out of his sight.
“But you’re heading to work. I shouldn’t be there.” She was reluctant to accompany him.
The brand department’s director, quick to notice, spotted the ring on Renee’s finger and immediately chimed in, “Mrs. King, it’s perfectly fine for you to go there!”

He then glanced at Marcelo for affirmation.
Marcelo remained calm, waiting for the opinion of Renee. It appeared he would skip work if she declined.
“Mrs. King, would you like me to have the secretary’s office team prepare some refreshments for you?” Even Luke chimed in.
