Chapter 205 In confusion
“It’s time for Miss Hudson’s IV drip,” the nurse mentioned, slightly embarrassed, as she held up the
medication.
“Please, keep it quiet,” Marcelo whispered, requesting the nurse to hang a bottle of medicine on a hook. He carefully got out of bed and gently pulled Renee’s left hand from under the blanket.
He had heard the nurse’s knock but chose not to answer, wanting to let Renee sleep a bit longer. The room was filled with silence, broken only by the soft sounds of the nurse preparing the injection.
She moved with precision, ensuring that Renee’s sleep remained undisturbed.
Luckily, the nurse did it.
Renee woke up later, the IV drip completed and a new piece of gauze was on the back of her hand. She looked around, puzzled by the nurse’s meaningful gaze.
“Renee.” Susanna burst into the room, holding a bouquet of flowers. “The nurse said you’re getting out of the hospital today. That’s awesome!”
Renee took the flowers, clearly delighted.
She thought her fever was nothing serious and didn’t expect Susanna to make such a fuss.
Marcelo, seeing the flowers, couldn’t help but remember Howard giving Renee a similar present.
He gave Daniel, who had arrived with Susanna, a nod as a way of saying hello, then stepped away to take
a call from work.
“Miss Hudson, you and Marcelo are back together?” Daniel inquired.
He sensed that things were improving between them.
Renee smiled. “Are you here to congratulate me, or do you feel bad for Vivian?”
Daniel paused, then smiled.
It was no secret Renee wasn’t fond of him, and she wasn’t shy about showing it.
He clarified, “Vivian’s not my real sister. My granddad adopted her. And I haven’t forgotten how you saved Susanna.”
Renee looked at him, puzzled.
Was he implying he’d support her over Vivian?
Susanna gave Renee a knowing wink, signaling her thoughts about Daniel were right.

Renee grinned. “You’re welcome, Daniel.”
She felt a sense of duty to assist Susanna, owing to their friendship.
He went on, “Everyone tends to call me ‘Mr. Lambert‘, but you can call me ‘Daniel‘, just like your husband
does.”
Renee nodded and quickly changed the subject. She told Susanna, “I need to let you know, I’ll have to push back my lecture. I’m not going to lecture next week.”
Susanna looked confused. “I thought you were a professor at Bellbank University?”
“No, my assignment was to deliver six lessons to the students. I’ve completed half of them so far.” Susanna was taken aback.
It turned out Renee wasn’t officially a professor and would be leaving the university eventually. Susanna had only recently completed her exchange student application at the university, eager to stay with Renee!
When Marcelo returned after ending a phone call, he noticed Susanna’s disheartened look but chose not to inquire about her chat with Renee.
After saying hello to Daniel, he took Renee off to another top–tier private hospital.
“Daniel…”
Before Susanna could continue, Daniel anticipated her concern. “Susanna, you’re twenty–two. It’s time you handled your own issues.”
Susanna found herself speechless.
Daniel had arranged everything. She was clueless about how to undo those arrangements.
She hadn’t truly desired to study at Bellbanks University; her registration as an exchange student was driven purely by her admiration for Renee. Now, learning Renee would soon depart the university filled her with regret.
Desperately, she pleaded with him, “But aren’t you my fiancé? Come on, you should help me out with my problems!”
She acted like a child who felt she wasn’t being treated fairly. Her delicate face became even prettier as she pouted her lips in a flirtatious manner.
Daniel looked at her briefly. “A husband should support his wife. Marry me, and I might just help you out.”
“Never mind!” Susanna let out a sigh.
She understood that he viewed her as immature, lacking in wisdom and ambition.
Because she was not his type, she did not want to tie them together through marriage.

His expression darkened upon her words. He looked away from her, saying, “Then figure it out on your
own.”
Bodyguards were stationed at every corner on the VIP floor of the hospital.
Renee looked around with interest, trying to guess who the patient might be. She then saw a striking
figure rushing over.
“Marcelo!” Renee yelled.
She beamed at the sight of Marcelo. Her gaze then shifted to Renee, who was right behind him. “Miss Hudson…Um, Mrs. King,” Vivian corrected herself with a hint of reluctance, following Marcelo’s
preference.
Renee arched an eyebrow. “I do prefer you call me ‘Mrs. King‘. It just sounds right.”
Truthfully, she wanted to avoid Vivian whenever she could.
Vivian clenched her jaw to hold back her anger.
“Why are you even here?” Marcelo questioned Vivian.
“I made some soup for your mom,” Vivian explained, holding a thermos.
She had been at the hospital for two days, hoping to run into Marcelo.
She hadn’t expected him to bring Renee along.
“Your mom’s in the hospital?” Renee asked.
Marcelo nodded and ushered her into a room.
Vivian didn’t think twice about following them.
Inside, Paul was looking after Jessica in the room.
Her hair fell softly over her shoulders, making her appear very gentle. Jessica gave him a bright, youthful
smile, full of love.
Renee saw Jessica light up with joy for the first time, thanks to Paul’s presence.
As the sound of the door opening reached their ears, Jessica and Paul turned around.
“Renee, what took you so long to come visit me?” Jessica’s face lit up at the sight of Renee, but she quickly looked away when she saw Marcelo.
Her illness had affected her memory, making her forget most things, including the last few days. She
