Chapter 171 Silence and embarrassment
At a high–end shopping center downtown
Nana’s clothes were easy to choose, as they only needed to be decent and comfortable. It didn’t take long for Renee to pick out a set of clothes for her.
!
Jessica, on the other hand, had a dignified temperament, but there was still a girlish look in her eyes. Renee spent over an hour, picking the right clothes for her.
“Hello, please show this…”
“Pack this dress for me!”
Renee was about to ask the saleswoman to bring her the dress so that she could get a better look when a woman’s arrogant voice interrupted her.
“Miss Hudson, you also like that dress?” Alma, who just entered the shop arm–in–arm with a man, smiled at her smugly. “Too bad. Vivian wanted it for an elder of the King family.”
“Is that so?” Without hesitation, Renee snatched the dress from the saleswoman and strode straight to the cashier. “I’ll take this dress, thank you.”
Whoever paid the bill owned the dress.
Alma was stunned. She didn’t expect that Renee would be so brazen!
“Don’t you dare let her pay!” Pointing at the cashier, Alma shouted, “Don’t forget that you’re all employees of the Rollins Group. Are you all blind? Can’t you see the gentleman next to me?”
“I want that one,” the man demanded.
His gentle, almost soothing voice had filled Sarah’s ears from the tender age of eight up until she was eighteen. Naturally, Renee had also come to know this voice.
Her expression turned cold and she couldn’t pretend not to see him anymore.
Teeth gritted, she looked at the man standing next to Alma.
He was dressed in a khaki windbreaker. He had a handsome face with chiseled features and black, bushy eyebrows, but his eyes were gentle. All in all, he exuded a noble temperament, and the pair of thin–rimmed glasses resting on the bridge of his nose made him look more refined.
Quincy remained one of the most popular young men in the business circle, which was exactly Sarah’s type..
Renee seethed secretly. Damn it! She forgot that this shopping mall belonged to the Rollins family. “Understood, Mr. Rollins.”
The cashier immediately canceled the transaction and firmly held onto the dress that Renee intended to buy.
“So, Mr. Röllins, are you going to stand up for your current girlfriend?“Renee sneered.
She specifically stressed the word “current“.
fortunately, despite her indirect provocation, Quincy’s expression didn’t change at all..
“Miss Hudson, I heard about what happened at the party. It’s your fault you hit Alma. For the sake of our age–old
friendship, I won’t make a fuss about it this time,” Quincy said calmly.
“Friendship?”

Renee laughed bitterly, as though she had heard a cruel joke. “It’s good that you’re defending your current girlfriend, Mr. Rollins. But you seem to have no problem with her insults to your ex, do you? Oh, that’s right–a man like you won’t give a damn about your ex–girlfriend!”
Quincy frowned in confusion.
What was Renee trying to say? Alma had insulted his ex?
When did she ever insult Sarah?
What he had heard was that Alma had defended Vivian, and that was why Renee suddenly attacked
“What’s going on?” Hearing the commotion, Marcelo wheeled himself over.
“Mr. King, pleasure to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you.” Quincy came to his senses and dropped the topic of Sarah in a heartbeat.
Marcelo nodded at him politely, but he didn’t bother to say anything in response.
Alma’s face changed slightly when she saw Marcelo.
How could she forget that this man had humiliated her at Vivian’s banquet?
“What’s going on? Are you okay, Renee?”
When Marcelo saw the gloom on Renee’s face, he took her hand and looked at her with concern, as though they were the only two people in the world.
Her hand was a little clammy, so he gently rubbed it to ease the tension.
“Miss Hudson, I’m afraid I’ll have to take this dress for Alm. You can choose anything else in the store–my treat of course. Ormes has a limited edition piece made of the rarest leather. Perhaps that might interest you?” Quincy was quite the generous gentleman. 1
“I don’t need you to ‘treat‘ my woman.“Marcelo looked at Quincy coldly.
Realizing that he had said something wrong, Quincy hurriedly explained, “Mr. King, don’t get me wrong. I’m not interested in your woman.”
Renee was so pissed that she clenched her fists, her fingernails digging into her palms.
She, Quincy, and Sarah had known each other for years. How could he not know that she wasn’t interested in bags? Of course he knew that Ormes was Sarah’s favorite, not hers.
What the hell was he trying to say?
“My man can buy me Ormes, and some guy can buy Ormes for Sarah. As for your money- spend it on Alma!” With a scowl, Renee pushed Marcelo’s wheelchair towards the exit. “Let’s get out of here, Marcelo!”
Quincy was puzzled when she mentioned that some guy would buy Ormes for Sarah.
Ever since the Curtis family went bankrupt, no one in the business circle dared to pursue Sarah for his sake. Thus, no man in their right mind dared to send her gifts like Ormes.
But Renee wouldn’t lie to him, would she? So, who was the man she was talking about?
For some reason, Quincy felt a little flustered.
And if he was being honest with himself, he felt a bit upset

“Don’t even think about driving a wedge between me and Quincy, Renee!” Alma hurriedly caught up to Renee and hissed in her ear, “Just because Marcelo’s with you now doesn’t mean he belongs to you. There are so many things you don’t know, Renee. God, I can’t wait to see you cry!” With a sneer, Alma left after saying that.
Noticing that Renee’s mood only worsened, Marcelo frowned and asked, “What did she say to you?”
Renee looked down at Marcelo and couldn’t help but wonder what she didn’t know…
“Nothing.” She shook her head and decided to drop the subject for the time being. “She was just h all.”
hat’s
She said this aloud in an attempt to convince her own self.
“Marcelo?” When they got in the car, Renee suddenly remembered something. “Do you really think that fidelity in marriage is important?”
Marcelo quietly looked at her, confused as to why she would ask such a question out of the blue. She stared back at him, offering no explanation.
But he could tell that she felt uneasy.
After a while,Marcelo cupped her cheek and kissed her on the lips in response.
He gave her his answer in this way.
“I do.”
He always agreed to that. Always.
Paul’s birthday party was held in a five–star hotel.
That day, countless beautiful women and handsome men in designer clothing and luxury cars swarmed the place. In her dreamy purple dress, while pushing Marcelo’s wheelchair ahead of her, Renee stood out in the crowd. Marcelo was growing increasingly popular in the business world. This kind of occasion was undoubtedly a good opportunity for people to network and rub shoulders with the KM Group, so he was instantly surrounded by a crowd.
