“What’s the matter?” Marcelo sensed something unusual about her behavior today.

“On the 13th of last month, I called you,“Renee explained, pointing to his phone, “But there’s no record of it. I called right before receiving my award. A woman answered your phone.”

Marcelo frowned.

He hadn’t known that a woman had answered Renee’s call until now.

Thanks to his sharp memory, he remembered being in a phone–restricted meeting that day, preventing him from having his phone by his side. It had been with Anna,his secretary.

“Did Anna answer it?” he asked.

“No, it wasn’t her…“Renee hesitated, the name “Vivian” on her mind, but she stopped herself and said, “The voice didn’t sound like Anna.”

There was a hesitation within her to bring up that name, as if she was subconsciously avoiding it. It was an instinct, perhaps to avoid confrontation or for self–protection.

Marcelo looked puzzled. “I’ll look into it.”

Renee nodded, certain about one thing. Marcelo was unaware that Vivian had answered her call. Someone had erased the call log, leaving him clueless about her attempt to reach him.

She wanted to confront Vivian, but the woman hadn’t stepped out of line that much. Vivian hadn’t said anything offensive. Yet, the way Vivian behaved and her actions were just enough for Renee to misunderstand her relationship with Marcelo.

University seniors usually had lighter class schedules. Renee decided to meet Howard at the campus bubble tea store that afternoon.

“I remember you were quite fond of the signature bubble tea here during your time at university,” Howard said, having arrived early and already ordered Renee’s drink.

Renee expressed her gratitude.

Without delay, Howard presented the lecture plan to her.

As she perused it, he pointed out the important details.

Meanwhile, Renee overheard a group of students nearby.

“Did you hear? At the university’s anniversary two days ago, there were rumors about a top student being a whore.She jumps from one man to another.”
