Chapter 117 Stoop so low
She hadn’t expected Andrew to stoop low.
The school’s anniversary was a big deal, and Renee couldn’t wrap her head around why Andrew would choose such a significant day to confront her over personal issues.
She understood that if she failed to sort this out properly, rumors about favoritism at the University could spread like wildfire through the nation in no time. This would definitely tarnish the university’s good name.
Taking the microphone, Renee shifted her focus from Marcelo to Andrew. “Sir, you claim I don’t deserve to be here. Are you familiar with who I am?”
Andrew just laughed it off. “Renee, you graduated in June, right? What great things could you have possibly achieved as a recent grad just starting out?”
Renee corrected him, “Actually, I hold a master’s degree, not a bachelor’s. It’s best to get your facts straight before questioning someone. Even the new students at our school are aware of this. Maybe you should consider enrolling here yourself to brush up on your knowledge.Do you know what it means to hold a master at ny age?”
What Renee was really implying was that Andrew, acting clueless like this, was even less informed than a freshman. She wanted him to back off.
Not wanting to waste any more time, Renee added, “If you have any questions about my qualifications, I’ll be happy to answer them after the anniversary event. Please, let’s not hold up the celebration.”
Catherine watched Renee, amazed. At just twenty–two, Renee had already earned her master’s degree? Despite getting off on the wrong foot about Renee’s background, Andrew wasn’t backing down. “Having a master’s degree is one thing. It doesn’t automatically mean you’re capable. And after the anniversary event, how will anyone know if you really deserved to be here or not?”
Catherine watched the scene with a smile, feeling quite at ease.
“What’s happening? Grab the microphone.“.
Things were getting out of hand. The teacher responsible for the anniversary quickly told someone to take the microphone from Andrew. Adressing the Dean, Marcelo suddenly said, “It’s about the school’s and the student’s reputation. We should sort this out right now. Sir, what do you think?”
Removing the microphone at this moment would surely damage Renee’s reputation.
How could he let his wife be defamed by such nonsense?
His Renee deserved to be in the spotlight rightfully.
Clearly, Marcelo was pressuring the Dean.
The Dean understood that Renee needed to clear things up, but he was worried it might disrupt the anniversary event’s schedule.

A tall guy in a white shirt and jeans, who was standing nearby, quickly walked over.
“Sir, the speeches of the first six graduates were quite brief, and we’re about 20 minutes ahead now. I’d like to behalf on stage, if that’s okay.”
The Dean reluctantly agreed.

Meanwhile, Renee was torn between two choices: either visit the school to check her honor information or confront Andrew after the school’s anniversary event.
Just then, an attractive man stepped onto the stage.
“Don’t worry. I’ve got this,” he said in a hushed tone.

Renee found him vaguely familiar but couldn’t quite place where she had seen him before.
Among the whispers of the audience, the man said, “Good morning, teachers and students. I’m a senior at Bellbanks University. I’ll spend the next few minutes addressing the queries regarding Renee Hudson.”
He began operating the computer, and a link appeared on the big screen.
“In March this year, our student union reported on Renee…” he began in a steady voice, displaying the report for everyone to
see.
“Renee Hudson joined the image styling program at our College of Fine Arts. She finished her master’s degree early, completing both her postgraduate and doctoral studies in five years, and maintained the top spot in her class for all those years. She was honored as the best graduate for both her undergraduate and master’s studies. She received the national scholarship three times. She’s published three papers in top national journals, secured six first–place wins in international competitions, seven in national ones. These are just some of Rence Hudson’s achievements while at school. She’s the youngest student to receive so many honors, both in our school’s history and in the country’s figurative arts field.”
Renee herself never kept track of these awards.
As the speaker continued, the audience was silent, occasionally expressing their amazement. They were impressed by Renee.
“Of course, some might say these are typical honors for a top graduate, so let’s look at something else.”
The students in the audience didn’t seem to agree with him. They were worried about their graduation standards being raised.
Photos were displayed on the big screen, one after another.
“Here’s Renee Hudson receiving the YEAR Gold Award in styling in Parasti this month. Anyone in fashion knows what a big deal this award is, and Renee is its youngest recipient. Many of you might have seen this photo already. The famous designer Freddy said at a major show that Renee helped clear up a scandal for him four years ago and designed the hit show Polar Night. These photos show Renee’s participation in various competitions. She has won numerous awards…”
The male student’s calm and proud voice reverberated through the hall, sending ripples of amazement among the onlookers.
Renee was left dumbfounded by the unfolding scenario.
These photos…Where on earth did he dig those up?
Even Renee herself could not find those snapshots.
“Who’s this guy?” Marcelo squinted, eyeing the student on the stage.
The lad was a young, confident, and striking figure, draped in an air of calmness.
The Dean remained oblivious to Marcelo’s shifting mood, offering a friendly grin. “Meet Howard Lee. Head honcho of the student union, the top dog in the law department, and an all–around standout!”
Howard, a seasoned senior, clocking in at about twenty–three, stood in the same age bracket as Renee.
There were two Lee families in the city.

“I take pride in having this top–notch lady graduate from the same school as mine,” Howard said, locking eyes with Andrew.” Sir, any lingering doubts about Renee Hudson? Feel free to fire away, and I’ll field them with pleasure.”
Andrew’s expression turned gloomy.
He assumed that Renee’s popularity and easygoing lifestyle during her college years were due to her good looks and Hudson family’s influence.
He never imagined the depths of Renee’s extraordinary profile.
Renee even had a master’s degree, something he was completely aware of.
The students erupted into a symphony of whispers.
“Goodness! Is this resume real? It’s like something out of a fever dream.Renee is a force to be reckoned with!”

“Same school as her here. She bags a master’s degree at twenty–one, hauling in honors, while I’m here sweating over grad school admissions.”
“Wow! Finally laid eyes on Renee. She is the legendary figure from our art school!”
“I recall her as a stand–in for a crew dancer not too long ago. Ahhh Can’t believe she’s my senior! I’m flaunting this for a whole year!”
“Four years in the same school, and I knew Renee was stellar, but this is a whole new level!”
The leaders and schoolmates echoed,
“This girl is exceptional.”
“This University is a breeding ground for prodigies.”
“She designed the Polar Night? My wife, a show director, has been trying to poach that behind–the–scenes genius.‘
“Hold on, folks! This is a major comrade. No poaching from my territory.”
The school anniversary soared to unprecedented heights, thanks to this matter.
Thankfully, the subsequent proceedings were a breeze, as the students struggled to contain their excitement.
After Howard’s onslaught,Andrew became red with rage and walked out right away.
Catherine, being the host, was stuck. Not only could she not leave, but she also sported a forced smile to navigate the rest of the
school anniversary.

Not in the best frame of mind and far from a pro hosting, Catherine stumbled through her lines, mispronouncing words left and right.
“What’s up with this host? Is this the cream of the crop you selected?” the school leader asked the overseer of the anniversary.
The overseer’s face darkened. “Well, you see…‘
”
He found himself tongue–tied, unable to admit the perks received from the Hudson family.
The leader asserted, “Once the anniversary wraps up, I expect a thorough explanation.”
Upon reclaiming her seat, Renee noticed a myriad of students sneakily snapping pictures of her with their phones.
She sent a message to Marcelo. “Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be at a meeting?”
Marcelo’s reply came immediately. It read, “…”
He did have a rendezvous to catch, but he wasn’t about to skip Renee’s award moment again.
He didn’t want to miss her shining on stage.
Renee, struck dumb by Marcelo’s ellipsis, wondered if he’d read her message. Did those dots signal acknowledginent or just a glance?
Marcelo occupied a seat a few yards away from Renee, separated by about a dozen folks. There was a peculiar charm in covertly texting amidst the crowd, the world blissfully unaware of their exchange.
He asked, “Are you familiar with that student?”
3/5.

Renee peeked at Howard, whose student council tag swung from his neck. He was engaged in a hushed chat with another council member.
Howard sensed Renee’s gaze, glancing over with a restrained politeness.

Renee grinned at Howard, gratitude etched on her face. Lowering her head, she replied to Marcelo, “Don’t know him.Otherwise, I’d remember such an outstanding junior schoolmate.”
Outstanding junior schoolmate…
Marcelo wasn’t in the best mood, and now it plummeted further.
Observing Howard a few steps away, Marcelo noted how he occasionally stole glances at Renee. Not intrusive or offensive, but there was a subtle restraint in Howard’s eyes.
Men understood men best, and according to Marcelo, Howard’s lock wasn’t just casual.
