Micah led Alicia to a private dining room. The ambiance was serene, decorated with flowing water features and Zen-like aesthetics that instantly calmed the mind.

They barely sat down for a few minutes before Heath arrived, carrying a bottle of premium liquor, evidently ready to celebrate Micah's good news.

But the moment he walked in and saw Alicia, he froze.

It was obvious he recognized her immediately.

Heath remained silent for a split second before flashing a bright smile at Micah, though he made no move to sit. "Buddy, you said you found yourself a girlfriend and wanted me to vet her. But on the way here, my wife kept blowing up my phone telling me to get home. Sorry, man, I've gotta run."

He chuckled easily, making it clear this wasn't the first time he had used his wife as a convenient shield.

Alicia smiled calmly, rising from her seat and extending her hand. "Mr. Chamberlain. I'm younger than you, so I'll respectfully call you Heath. I'm very glad you could make it tonight. Since this is our first formal meeting, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Alicia Shelton. I hope we can get to know each other properly."

Her composed, unyielding demeanor threw Heath off guard for a second. This Alicia seemed much more refined than he had anticipated.

However, Brandon's toxic narrative was deeply rooted in his mind. He still viewed her as an opportunistic, incompetent orphan who had merely gotten lucky.

"Ah, Director Shelton of White Corporation. A pleasure," Heath replied politely, deliberately ignoring her outstretched hand. He turned his smiling gaze back to Micah. "Buddy, I am so sorry. You know how my wife gets. If I don't get back right now, she'll lock me out of the bedroom."

Micah shot Alicia a concerned look.

Alicia's hand remained suspended in the air. She held her polite posture flawlessly, her smile unwavering.

Just as the words left her mouth, the door to the private room opened. Jade walked in, accompanied by Mrs. Chamberlain.

Both Heath and Micah froze, staring at Mrs. Chamberlain in sheer shock.

Alicia's smile deepened with profound satisfaction as she looked at the woman. "Mrs. Chamberlain, since you're here, I trust you won't mind if I shake your husband's hand?"

Unaware of the tension, Mrs. Chamberlain laughed warmly. "Oh, you sweet girl. A handshake is just basic manners and good upbringing. Why on earth would I be angry?"

Alicia turned her half-smile back to Heath, whose face was rapidly draining of color. "Mr. Chamberlain, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I'm Alicia. I hope we can all sit down peacefully and have a proper conversation."

Heath's face darkened, but he couldn't exactly throw a tantrum with his wife standing right there. He had no choice but to swallow his pride, internally marveling at how drastically both he and Brandon had underestimated Alicia Shelton.
