Mrs. Lowell looked at Jade with deep concern. The boss was incredibly protective of Susanna, and now it seemed Jade was going to be kicked out for sure.
"Susanna... look, Jade didn't mean it. How about she apologizes to you?" the housekeeper tried to placate the crying woman.
Susanna held her stinging cheek, her expression twisted with rage as she shot a venomous glare at Jade. "I am going to make your life a living hell."
With that, Susanna spun around and dashed back to her room to call Clayton.
Mrs. Lowell sighed heavily. "Miss White, the boss cares deeply for her. When he gets back, I'll try to explain what happened, but if..."
If Clayton insisted on kicking Jade out, there was nothing she could do.
Jade nodded. "Thank you... I know what I have to do."
If Clayton ordered her to leave, she wouldn't fight it.
"Mrs. Lowell, I need to head out for a bit. If anything comes up, I'll explain everything to Clayton when I return tonight."
Finishing her tasteless breakfast, Jade debated internally whether she should go see Alicia.
Would Alicia even give her the time of day?
After sitting in silence for a long time, she finally stood up and walked out of Clayton's mansion.
Since Clayton had intervened this time, Brandon wouldn't dare make a move against her in the short term. It was relatively safe for her to go out.
In the bedroom, Susanna stood by the window, watching Jade leave before calling Natalia. "Natalia, she's leaving the house. I eavesdropped on her and Clayton. Patriarch Reginald White left her a letter, and I suspect it contains something critical that might jeopardize The Gentleman's plans."
The majority supported reinstating Brandon, though they hadn't found the nerve to say it to her face yet.
Eventually, someone grew bold enough. "Nicole..." one executive started carefully. "You're Patriarch Reginald White's granddaughter. White Corporation isn't just our livelihood; it's his life's work. You wouldn't want to see it all go up in smoke, would you?"
Alicia nodded calmly. "Just say what's on your mind."
The man nodded, hesitating slightly before plunging ahead. "How about we bring Brandon back? He might be a bit shady, but his capabilities are proven. When he ran the engineering division, our partnership with Heath was seamless, and the company saw steady growth. We need to secure the corporation's interests to protect everyone's bottom line."
Alicia stared at him without a word. The silence dragged on, making the executive increasingly anxious until he spoke again. "Nicole, we all respect your capabilities. But you're just a woman, and a... a widow without powerful backing. If you absolutely refuse to bring Brandon back, at least get married. Find a strong husband to support you so people like Heath won't bully you so easily..."
He ultimately swallowed the word 'widow,' lacking the courage to say it outright.
Alicia knew that over half the board shared this sentiment, so she didn't lose her temper. Instead, she replied evenly, "Mr. Quinn from Lynch Corporation has arranged a meeting for me with Heath. As the acting head of White Corporation, it's my responsibility to protect our collective interests. I will negotiate with him to the best of my ability. If an agreement can't be reached, I will find a better solution to safeguard this company."
