"Jade, you have one last chance to turn back. This is it."
In his letter, Reginald stated her final chance at redemption was right now.
Reginald had anticipated that Brandon would sacrifice his own daughter for profit, and that Jade would face a do-or-die moment when pushed to the absolute brink.
And currently, Alicia desperately needed her help with Heath Chamberlain from Pinnacle Materials.
Brandon had planted a ticking time bomb inside White Corporation, and Heath was that bomb aimed directly at Alicia.
If Jade could see reason and help Alicia defuse this situation, it would be the exact final chance her grandfather had written about.
But Jade's mind was in turmoil, her heart racing with panic.
She was terrified. Terrified that no one would ever trust her again.
Even if her grandfather had given her this chance, would Alicia and Clayton accept it?
Given her past actions, she was entirely untrustworthy.
Was throwing herself into the fire really a path to survival?
Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. Jade agonized over the decision for a long time, paralyzed by doubt.
The sound of an engine revving outside told her Clayton had left.
She wanted to talk to him, but he likely wouldn't give her the time of day.
Tucking the letter safely into her pocket, Jade stood up and walked out of the bedroom.
She didn't destroy it. She figured... if she brought her grandfather's handwritten letter to Alicia, perhaps she might be given the benefit of the doubt.
"Miss White, breakfast is ready. Mr. Holloway had some business to attend to, but he asked that you eat properly," Mrs. Lowell said with a gentle smile.
A brief flush of warmth hit Jade's chest, and she nodded.
She knew Clayton would never say anything so caring; it was just the housekeeper's kindness.
