Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 553

...

Evercrest Group.

Tyrone was secretly handling company affairs at Evercrest Group, while making sure his men kept a close eye on Micah, terrified the man would use his absence to steal his wife. "Are you keeping a tight watch on Micah?"

Kenney Lockwood looked at Tyrone in exasperation. "Mr. Lynch, you've asked me three times today. Micah took a sick day and hasn't left his place at all."

Tyrone scoffed. "Find a sorcerer to cast a hex and let him drop dead from his illness."

Kenney almost choked on his drink. "Mr. Lynch... Micah is technically your grandfather's generation. He has a lot of seniority."

Kenney really had a knack for bringing up the worst possible topics.

Micah's seniority wasn't a big deal in the Quinn family, but it was significant to Tyrone.

If Tyrone's mother were still alive, she would have to address him as an uncle.

Tyrone shot Kenney a predatory glare, immediately shutting him up.

Tyrone's phone rang. The caller ID showed Alicia.

He grabbed it instantly, answering within a second. "Hey, honey."

His expression softened instantly.

Kenney scoffed quietly. The man changed moods faster than flipping a page.

"Tyrone, are you free to meet tonight? I need to talk to you," Alicia said, feeling it was better to discuss this face-to-face.

"Alright. I'll wait for you at our usual spot tonight."

The usual spot was their small safe house in Seaview City, located on Isleview—a residential area developed by Evercrest Group. It was completely secure, ensuring no suspicious individuals could follow Alicia.

"Okay."

...

Back in the day, when she lived in the slums with Brandon, they barely had enough to eat. Her severe malnutrition had caused her to miscarry her second child, leaving her permanently unable to conceive.

Yet, she placed all the blame on Jade, morally blackmailing her since childhood. She constantly drilled into Jade that she had to succeed just to help keep her father's attention.

Over the years, because she still held some value, Brandon maintained an illusion of peace with Jade's mother, allowing her to bask proudly in the vanity of being the White family's madam.

But now, Jade was worthless. Why would Brandon keep a woman from the slums, whose background was a constant source of gossip, by his side?

"Get your ass back here immediately! Your father wants you to marry that businessman in Southeast Asia, and you are going to do it to make him happy! Do you hear me?! If you don't come back, I'll kill myself!"

Her mother always loved using the threat of death to manipulate her.

Jade had heard these exact words far too many times over the years.

Offering a cynical smile, Jade spoke in a low voice. "If you can't keep your own man, that's your failure. You failed, and you failed at raising me, too. Let's just both drop dead together."

Just as Jade was about to hang up, a white van suddenly screeched to a halt by the curb. Several men jumped out, clamping a hand over her mouth and nose, dragging her violently toward the vehicle.
