Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 412

“It wasn’t… it wasn’t me.” Mayfield Lawson stammered, his face pale with panic.

Vincent Lawson let out a cold laugh. What an idiot, he thought. How Stephen could treasure someone like this was beyond him.

Stephen, too, was unsettled. He glanced at Tyrone Lynch, trying to salvage the situation. “There must be some mistake here, Tyrone. This has to be a misunderstanding…”

“A misunderstanding?” Tyrone’s tone was icy. “If that’s the case, then let’s put our collaboration on hold until your company gets to the bottom of this. We’ll talk business once everything’s been cleared up.” With that, he nodded to his assistant, who promptly dragged the would-be attacker out of the room. Tyrone strode away without so much as a backward glance.

Stephen’s face darkened with fury. The moment Tyrone was gone, he turned on Mayfield and slapped him hard across the face.

Mayfield, clutching his cheek, looked crushed and aggrieved. He’d wanted to take Tyrone down, yes, but he had never even seen that man before in his life.

Meanwhile, the hitman who’d been sprawled on the floor scrambled to his feet and bolted.

“Dad, you have to believe me, that guy wasn’t one of mine! My people hadn’t even made a move yet—” Mayfield protested desperately, but Stephen smacked him again, cutting him off.

It was obvious now—Mayfield had tried to have Tyrone killed, hoping to sabotage the partnership. But his incompetence had only made things worse.

“How many times have I told you? This deal is crucial. Absolutely crucial! We need to get the money out of Tyrone before anything else!” Stephen seethed, his voice low and venomous. “You’re nothing but a liability. Get out. I don’t want to see you at the office again unless I say so.”

Mayfield clenched his fists, seething with resentment, and shot Vincent a venomous glare. “Was it you? Did you set me up? That guy—did you arrange for him to show up and frame me?”

Vincent raised an eyebrow, his reply cool and dismissive. “Dad, I think he’s lost his mind.”

Even with Tyrone’s power diminished, he was still formidable. If pushed, he could drag Lawson & Co. down with him.

Stephen took a long, shaky breath, finally forced to abandon his plan to use Alicia Shelton against Tyrone. “Fine. I’ll transfer control of the holding company to you. Go and negotiate with Tyrone, keep him calm, and close this deal as soon as possible. I can’t afford to wait any longer.”

Or rather, the people behind him couldn’t wait any longer.

Vincent leaned forward, his gaze probing. “Dad, I have to ask. Even if Tyrone rebounds, it would hurt Lawson & Co.—but not enough to justify such underhanded tactics. Who’s really pulling the strings? Who wants you to steal his inheritance and finish him off? This path will ruin the company’s reputation. If word gets out or the police get involved, a hundred years of honor will go up in smoke. No one will ever trust us again.”

He wanted to know who was really pulling the strings.

Stephen’s face turned ashen. He waved his hand, evading the question. “What do you know? In the long run, getting rid of Tyrone is what’s best for Lawson & Co.’s future!”
