Elsie gave an embarrassed laugh. "He gave me so many names that they all started sounding the same after a while. I just let them go in one ear and out the other. You know how it is—a woman’s IQ usually plummets once she's in love."
Lilian shot her a look of mock exasperation. "Then yours didn't just drop; it fell off a cliff. You went from top of the class to failing grade in seconds if you can't remember information this important. This Ivy was Cameron’s girlfriend before his most recent one. I don't know exactly how long they dated, but I do know your little 'mouse' was quite fond of her at the time. He brought her along to hang out with us several times."
"Are you serious?" Isabelle asked, eyes wide.
Lilian nodded. "Totally. Why would I lie about that? Back then, Cameron and Ivy were constantly showing off their relationship everywhere they went. I'm not sure what happened in the end or why they broke up, but I can guarantee that Cameron was single when he started seeing you. He might have a reputation for being a playboy, but he’s never been the type to two-time."
Isabelle looked puzzled. "If that’s the case, then Elsie didn't steal her cousin’s boyfriend. Why is she spreading all those lies?"
"Who knows? Maybe she saw how close they were and just assumed Elsie must have been the reason for the breakup. After all, Cameron really did make a spectacle of how much he liked Ivy back then."
Elsie sneered. "Well, they do say that those who show off their love the loudest are the ones who lose it the fastest."
Lilian gave her a devious smile. "Funny, I seem to remember a certain someone showing off her relationship to me recently."
"Shut up! I’ve made it my mission to tame that gorgeous demon, so don't you dare jinx me," Elsie retorted.
