Lilian smiled. “We’ll discuss how skilled Dr. Jerome is in a moment. Right now, I mainly wanted your help looking at this girl’s test report. After all, I’m just a medical student, and my skills aren’t authoritative enough to convince people. But you are the head of Solara Hospital, Mr. Huang. You have the authority to command trust, so I had to bother you.”
The director replied congenially, “That’s no problem.”
A moment later, several test reports of different colors were handed over, and Lilian gave them directly to the director.
The director looked at the report and gasped. “The sodium nitrite content in this blood is so high! This is enough to kill someone!” He then walked to the bed, glanced at the unconscious Natalie, and said, “Do we even need a test for such clear signs of poisoning? Her face is cyanotic, her lips are purple, and she’s unresponsive. These are all symptoms of poisoning.”
Lilian sneered. “Is that so? Yet, Dr. Jerome here said the patient was merely suffering from excessive melancholy and sadness, leading to physical weakness, and that she would recover with care. And Dr. Jerome has been ‘caring‘ for this patient for nearly three months. This is the result of his ‘care.”
The director looked at Jerome in disbelief. “This is your diagnosis?”
Jerome looked distraught. “I… I don’t know. Maybe I wasn’t thorough enough in my examination.”
“To hell with that!” the director roared. “Jerome, Jerome! You’ve been practicing medicine for decades. With your skill, I don’t believe you couldn’t diagnose obvious poisoning! You claim you weren’t thorough enough? You disappoint me deeply! I’ve been telling everyone how skilled you are. Aren’t you making me look like a fool?”
Jerome rushed to explain. “It’s not what you think! Listen to me! I had no choice!”
“What is there to explain? If I hadn’t seen this with my own eyes, I wouldn’t know your medical skill is this poor, Jerome. Whatever your reasons, disregarding a patient’s life is a breach of medical ethics. Our hospital absolutely will not tolerate a doctor who lacks medical ethics. Please look for work elsewhere, Dr. Jerome.” The director was filled with righteous indignation.
Theo had never imagined this result. He thought Natalie was just suffering from sadness. He never expected it was poisoning.
Carson, standing nearby, was also shocked. He suddenly remembered the questions Natalie had asked him recently. He instantly turned to look at Ginnie and her daughter, who both looked panicky.
Lilian looked at Jerome with a mocking expression. “Since the test results are out, Dr. Jerome is a suspect in the attempted murder of the Yale family’s young miss. This is serious.” She then instructed Unno directly, “Call the police. Have them investigate this personally.”
Jerome trembled in fear. “No, you can’t! It wasn’t me! I didn’t give Natalie the sodium nitrite!”
