**Chapter 660: Nicholas’s Ending 1**
The man clad in black swiftly exited the vehicle, his movements sharp and precise. He strode purposefully towards Lilian, and in a swift, brutal motion, he struck her forcefully on the neck. The impact was immediate; she crumpled to the ground, her consciousness slipping away like sand through fingers. Without a moment’s hesitation, he hoisted her over his shoulder, her limp form draped across him, and made his way back to the car.
Nicholas sat in the backseat, his gaze fixed on the unconscious girl nestled in the seat beside him. A surge of triumph coursed through him as he extended his bony fingers, hovering them just above her outline, as if he could absorb her essence through the air itself. A sneer crept onto his lips, twisted and malevolent. “Three long years, Lilian,” he murmured, his voice dripping with disdain. “You certainly made this a challenge. But now that I have you, no cost is too steep for what I desire. With you in my grasp, my fortune will be mine for the taking. And as for that old fool—what can he possibly do to stop me now?” A chilling laugh erupted from his throat, a harsh, grating sound that echoed ominously in the confined space of the car.
The driver, a stoic figure in the front seat, broke the silence. “Sir, where to now?” he inquired, his tone respectful yet tinged with curiosity.
Nicholas retracted his hand, his expression hardening. “To our base, of course. I’m eager to see who dares to pursue us there.”
“Understood,” the man in black acknowledged, his voice steady as he maneuvered the vehicle onto the road.
As the sleek black car glided away from the hospital, another vehicle trailed closely behind, its presence unnoticed by the occupants in the first car.
The journey continued, the vehicle speeding along a serpentine mountain road. The headlights struggled to pierce the darkness that enveloped the towering peaks, casting eerie shadows that danced around them. At last, they arrived at a secluded area, where they switched to a rugged Jeep and ventured deeper into the heart of the mountains. The landscape was a treacherous maze of steep inclines and perilous turns, each twist of the road a reminder of the dangers lurking within. Eventually, the Jeep came to a halt before a foreboding cave entrance.
Nicholas stepped out, his demeanor commanding as he turned to the man in black. “Bring her inside,” he ordered with an air of authority, then strode purposefully into the darkness of the cave.
The man, with Lilian still draped over his shoulder, followed closely behind Nicholas into the subterranean research facility.
Inside, a researcher clad in a crisp white lab coat looked up in surprise as Nicholas entered, the unconscious girl in tow. “Is this the new test subject?” he asked, his curiosity piqued.
