Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 42

After collecting their lunches from the bustling cafeteria, the three girls settled down at a quiet corner table, the chatter around them fading into the background.

Natalie leaned in, her voice a hushed whisper, “Lilian, you’ve officially become the most talked-about girl on campus. Everyone’s buzzing about what happened.”

Lilian exhaled deeply, a weary smile tugging at her lips. “Believe me, this wasn’t something I planned for. But honestly, could I have just stood by and watched someone die?” Her eyes reflected a mixture of exhaustion and resolve.

Jill nodded firmly, her expression serious. “Exactly. We’re all students here. Turning our backs when someone needs help would have been heartless.”

Natalie groaned dramatically, resting her chin on her hands as she sighed. “Ugh, I can’t believe I had to run to the bathroom this morning and missed everything! If I’d stayed put, I could have witnessed your legendary acupuncture skills firsthand.” She gave Lilian a mock-pitying glance.

Lilian chuckled softly while taking a bite of her food. “It wasn’t nearly as dramatic as people say. Just some standard needling. You know how rumors spread—by the time a story passes through a hundred mouths, it’s almost unrecognizable. They’re making me sound like some kind of mythical healer.”

“Well, mythical or not, you’re still incredible,” Natalie said, her voice muffled as she chewed.

Jill agreed, nodding. “Bringing someone back from the brink of a heart attack is no small feat. Even though I didn’t see it, I can only imagine how impressive your skills must be.”

Lilian gave a small, wry smile, feeling both humbled and a little overwhelmed by their praise.

Their conversation was interrupted by a soft, delicate voice. “Hello, Lilian. I’m Yulia, a second-year student. I wanted to thank you for what you did this morning. If you hadn’t stepped in, I think I’d have felt guilty forever.”

Yulia approached with a group of girls trailing behind her. Her face was carefully composed, wearing an expression of feigned concern.

She continued, “Honestly, if it weren’t for Jeremy and the crowd he attracts, that poor girl might never have had a heart attack at all. So… thank you.”

Lilian looked up at them, her tone cool and unyielding. “No thanks necessary. I helped because I could. It had nothing to do with you. We’re not close.”
